On the highest point of Mt. Olympus, Hera stared down at her newborn son, Hercules. Her husband adored the boy, too, but from the moment she saw the boy, she knew he was special.
He was her own, and she loved him dearly.
The night was cold, wind whistling through the palace. Hercules stirred, laughing as he was pulled from his crib into the sky.
He was flown to the ground, set down lightly. The loss of motion upset the boy, causing him to cry. The two small monsters shushed him before a bottle was slipped into his mouth. He drank it without hesitation.
"No, he needs to drink every drop!" A voice explained, footsteps echoing throughout the silence.
"We need to go! Someone is coming!" The silence was interrupted by the sound of glass breaking as the bottle hit the ground.
A woman with blonde hair and blue eyes shifted forward, grabbing the boy in her arms. She looked around, searching for possible parents, but found no one.
She let out a sigh, "I guess you're stuck with me. How's that sound?" Her voice was smooth, "I think I'll name you Evan." Evan giggled lightly at the name before he was silenced by the hissing of snakes.
He looked up, grabbing the two snakes in his hands and bashing their heads together. He tied their necks together before throwing them far away.
The woman laughed, her blue eyes glistening in the rain, "Thanks for that. Guess it's a good thing I've got you now, huh?"
Evan smiled up at her as the rain continued to pour down. Lightning flashed and thunder roared, but nothing could break the connection between the two. A mother and her son...
