Brayden Point (Tampa Bay Lightning)

"Are you sure you can't come?" I asked my boyfriend of 3 years through the phone. He sighed and I knew his answer before he gave me one.

My boyfriend, Brayden Point, hasn't been to one of my volleyball games all year. I play on the University of South Florida volleyball team and he has tried to come tons of times, but he always has conflicts.

Today, my last game of the season, he promised me he could come. Until Coach Cooper scheduled a last minute practice so he couldn't go.

"How much practice could you need? You are the best team in the league." I joked and he laughed, making me smile. He was at the practice arena right now, and I was in my stall, getting ready for warmups which would start in 10 minutes.

"(L/N)! Hang up on Point and let's go get the W!" my coach yelled and I nodded. "I gotta go babe, I love you!" I told him. "I love you more baby. Good luck tonight! I'm sorry I couldn't make it." He apologized again and I shook my head as if he could see me. "Don't worry about it, Bray. I'll see you at home." And I hung up. I pulled up my knee pads and high fived all my teammates, ready to go lead my team to a win.

"Holy cow! What a pass by (L/N)! That's the first pancake of her career!" The announcer yelled and I smiled, getting up after helping my team get the match point. We huddled around each other as a good job hug and then we went to high five the other team.

"That's my girl!" I heard a familiar voice yell. I could have sworn it was Brayden, but I knew he was at practice. I finished high fives and my coach tapped on my shoulder. "I thought you said he wasn't coming?" She asked me and I turned around and saw Brayden standing in the second row of the bleachers.

A huge smile came to my face as he came down to the floor and I ran into his arms. He picked me up and spun me around. "I'm so proud of you, love!" He exclaimed and I smiled. I was so happy to see him.

"What about your practice?" I asked him and he smiled. "I lied because I wanted to surprise you. You've been nothing short of amazing with everything that's been going on this season with the success and the all star game, I needed to come. And I've wanted to see you play for a while, but I've always been busy and I feel terrible about that. It's the least I can do."

I smiled and I leaned in to kiss him. We shared a long kiss when my teammates started wolf whistling and cheering. "Get a room!" "Point is scoring on and off the ice!"

Brayden laughed at that and I smiled, leaning into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me and rubbed my back. I haven't been this happy in my life. I kissed him again and he pulled away, smiling.

"I love you, baby." He said and I smiled. "Love you, you big goof." I said and he narrowed his eyes at me. "I pour my heart out to you and all I get is you big goof? Oh, that's it." He said and threw me over his shoulder. I squealed and hit his back. "Let me go!" I yelled. "No can do." He said and ran around with me over his shoulder. We were getting stares, but we didn't care.

He finally set me down and I smiled. "Thank you for coming, it means the world to me." I told him and he smiled. "I wouldn't miss it for the world. Now come on, let's go home and cry over This Is Us." He said and threw his arm around my shoulder, making me laugh. I leaned into him and sighed happily. I was where I belong, and I couldn't be happier.
