"No, stop! Wait!" I yelled out between bursts of sobbing. Chasing Corbyn down the stairs trying to get his attention while Daniel followed closely behind. If I hadn't been so focused on trying to talk to Corbyn I could have slapped Daniel.
"Please Corbyn, just listen to me, it isn't what it looks like, I promise," I cried out as Corbyn stood still, facing the front door. His shoulders raised and lowered as he exhaled shakily. His knuckles went white due to the clenching of his fists. Slowly turning around to face me, the first thing I noticed were his red eyes and the tears streaming down his cheeks. The hurt was clear in his expression more than anything else causing my heart to shatter knowing I had cause this beautiful human to hurt so badly."It isn't what it looks like? Really?" Corbyn breathed out in disbelief.
"Really," I whispered in return.
"What I saw was my girlfriend and best friend making out after I went to go check on them. My girlfriend literally begging for more, please explain to me why it isn't what it looks like," he said, absolute bitter dripping from his words.
"I..uh...I," the words struggled to form as I myself didn't even know what had happened.
"Yea, that's what I thought," Corbyn said, another tear rolling down his cheek. He opened the front door and stared at me, searching for something in my drowning eyes. His eyebrows furrowed and without another second passing by he shut his eyes close and pointed towards the exit.
"Please leave," he said barely above a whisper.
"What?" I questioned in complete disbelief.
"GET OUT!" He shouted causing me to jump before he burst into tears, "p-please."I turned around to take one last glance at the house that had become my home 4 months earlier. I watched Zach, Jonah and Jack overviewing the situation worryingly. My eyes found their way to Daniel. He stood more still than I had ever seen him before. He didn't open his mouth to confess to coming onto me or to say anything to defend me. Clearly he wasn't madly in love with me.
"Fuck you," I mouthed to Daniel, allowing one last tear to free itself. Before I knew it my feet stood on the welcome mat at the front of the house. Wearing nothing but my Nike sneakers, a hoodie and grey sweatpants with my iPhone tucked into the back pocket, I began walking down the driveway slowly.
"Pull yourself together Amelia," I whispered to myself, "you are the only person that will be there for you."Standing at the bottom of the driveway, I took one last moment to look at the large house behind me. Corbyn stood in front of the closed door, leaning against it and watching me as his silent tears flooded his cheeks. He stared deeply into my eyes but made no movement.
"I love you more than anything," I whispered although I knew he couldn't hear me. After a moment's hesitation, my feet continued to shuffle down the street with no real sense of direction. There was no way I could go back to the house I had shared with my mother, my heart physically wouldn't be able to take that kind of pain. With the fear of relapsing into the darkness that used to be my reality, I walked in the opposite direction to my old apartment.I softly hummed to distract myself from the tragic events of that day but even the hums couldn't block out the awful thoughts that circled my mind, the continuous memories of my mother, of Corbyn.
A pair of blinding lights brought me back to reality, turning around to face them I tried to figure out who was behind the wheel of the car that had started slowing down behind me. The car came to a complete stop and the door to the driver side flung open, an unrecognisable figure stepping out of the vehicle. Putting my hand in front of my face to shield my eyes from the bright lights didn't help in seeing the person much better but the voice of the man was extremely distinctive.
"Get in the car Amelia, let's get out of here."
"No, I'm not getting in there with you," I shook my head rapidly.
"Just get in, let me take you away from this place, we can go anywhere you want, anywhere."I finally locked eyes with the piercing blues that belonged to the male. A single tear rolled down my cheek, "no Daniel, I've caused too much trouble tonight already, it's best that I'm alone tonight."
