(Your POV)

The table was set beautifully. Two candles lighted each side creating a romantic atmosphere. Sweet music filled the room. Your dress was perfect for the night. And the chair across you is empty.

Yep, your boyfriend is late for your third anniversary.

"Would you like to order some more wine, Miss?" the waiter asked you for the third time.

"No thanks," you smiled weakly at him. "I'll be leaving soon."

You sighed as you looked at your phone and saw that you received not a single call nor a single text message from your boyfriend.

You glanced at the clock on the restaurant and it's almost eight. Way too late than the agreed time you're supposed to meet at the restaurant.

You decided to leave and send your boyfriend one last message.

7:52 PM>>To Ranmaru: I'll go home now.

After the message was sent, you turned your phone off, put on your coat, and left the restaurant.

You took a cab and told the driver to take you home to the address you gave him.

You looked out the window and a tear rolled down your cheek.

Your heart was breaking at the thought that your boyfriend could abandon you for the first time. He was never late. And if he was, he always sends you a message or calls you beforehand. But tonight... Why? Why didn't he ever contact you? Why didn't he answer your calls? Or reply to your messages?

You wiped your tears as the cab stopped on a red light.

You looked to the right and noticed a familiar pink-haired guy inside a jewelry shop.

There was no mistaking it. Kirino Ranmaru, your boyfriend, is at that jewelry shop.

He was holding something tiny in his fingers which you presumed to be a ring. Then he carefully held the hand of a lady in front of him and put that ring on her finger.

You slumped back to your seat. No tears came out. But your heart was beating fast.

The cab began to move again at the green light.

"Miss, are you alright?" the driver asked as he looked at you on his rearview mirror.

"I'm fine," you said, voice not cracking. "Please step on the gas."

The driver made the cab go faster and soon you were home. You immediately ran to your room, locked the door, and fell on the bed faced down.

(Still your POV)

You woke up late the next day and decided not to go to school since you weren't feeling too well.

You opened your phone with your eyes half-open and was startled by a lot of messages you received in an instant. You checked and they were all from Kirino. You didn't want to read his excuses so you turned your phone off again, washed your face and brushed your teeth, then went downstairs.

"Oh, she must be up. Sorry for the wait, Kirino-kun," you hear your mom say and it made you stop in the middle of the stairs.

"(Y/n)? Kirino-kun is here. Come down," your mom called and you gave out a frustrated sigh.

Your relationship has been open to both your parents and Kirino's but you clicked your tongue at the thought that you plan to end that relationship today.

You continued walking down the stairs and frowned at Kirino when you saw him.

"Hey, (Y/n)..." Kirino began, sounding slightly worried.

"What do you want?" you said, not looking at him.

"You didn't go to school today so I thought, you were sick. I was worried. And you weren't answering my messages last night," he said in a very gentle manner.

You turned to him, anger and hurt mixing within you yet your face only showed sternness. "You don't have to explain anything, now get out."

Kirino flinched back. "What? But (Y/n)... I..."

Your mom stood up and showed you a look that says, 'you better fix that' before she left you two.

"Please, listen to me first," Kirino almost sounded like he begged for it. "I'm sorry if I didn't show up at the restaurant last night..."

He looked at you full of honesty and you decided to listen to him. "Go on," you said, trying to sound strong, yet you were breaking inside.

"I was caught by heavy traffic... I tried to give you a call but my phone just went dead... Then I got down the cab instead to walk my way to the restaurant when I passed by a jewelry store... And..." he pulled something out of his pocket before continuing. "I got this for you..."

It was a small silver ring with your birthstone on top of it.

You stared at the ring in wonder. "Nani? But I saw you!" you weren't able to stop a tear from falling. "I saw you put that thing on a girl last night!"

"Well..." Kirino began to run a hand on his hair. "I've been saving money for a long time already, (Y/n)... So I could buy this ring for you... And since I had saved enough, I want it to be a perfect fit... Last night, I looked at the hand of the saleslady and they really matched yours so I tried it on her. I was so happy when it fit on her. Cause that would mean, it's a perfect fit for you..." Kirino said, now having teary eyes.

You felt as if cold water was being poured over you. You didn't know what to say.

Kirino walked towards you. "I'm sorry if I hurt you. But (Y/n), I never intended to."

You hugged him and cried on his chest. "You baka! Why didn't you charge your phone before you left so you could've let me know?!" you said between sobs.

"I'm sorry..." Kirino muttered as he ran his hand on your hair.

When you pulled yourself from him, he wiped your tears. "May I put this ring on your finger?"

"O-okay," you said.

He gently held your hand and slipped the ring on your finger before kissing it.

"Thank you so much, Ranmaru. I will always cherish this."

"I love you, (Y/n)," Kirino said, cupping your face.

"I love you too."
