(Sora's POV)

Gorgeous.

That's just one of the many words that I would love to describe Raimon's team Captain.

What Shindou Takuto is like is no mystery to me.

I know almost everything about him on the inside out for he is one of my closest friends.

You see that's the thing. For I am also fully aware that I am no more than a close friend to him.

I don't remember him having a girlfriend. Let alone asking any girl out on a date.

So in this moment right now, when I stood speechless before him, bewilderment dawned upon me and my mind needed to perform a series of total recall and the urge to ask Shindou to repeat what he had said became inevitable.

"I'm sorry, Takuto-kun, but can you say that one more time?" I ask for the third time. Blame my heart and mind for not believing it the first time he said it and for trying to make sure I had heard the right words.

Shindou let out a frustrated sigh. I could tell he almost fought the urge to facepalm himself in front of me. But no, he wouldn't do that. To him that would seem like an idiotic act. Much more idiotic than my stupidity to ask him over again.

"I don't want to think that you're trying to make a fool out of me, Sora-chan. But I'm saying it again for you to let you know that I'm serious about this and I'm not trying to play any games with you. So, for the nth time, will you go out with me tonight at the festival?"

My mind has just finished all verification processes and the results were positive. I heard him right. He was asking me out on a date tonight at the festival. Should I treat this as a dream come true? Probably. The man whom I admired more than a friend is right in front of me and is seriously asking me out. Praise the goddess of victory.

Shindou looked at me with his eyes full of hope. Hope that I would say yes and spend the most amazing night of my life with him.

"No, I don't like staying out late. I'm sorry," I said.

Way to go, Sora. Now you have caused those mesmerizing chocolate brown eyes to carry a load of hurt and awful rejection. What have I done?

"I see. Okay, then. I guess I have no choice but to go out with Akane-san again. Sorry to bother you," Shindou turned his back on me and walked away. Yet his pace seemed to drag. It seemed as if he was still hoping I would say something to take back what I said and say the exact opposite. Yet my senses didn't move. I seem to have lost the willpower to stop him and tell him yes, I would definitely go out with you, Shindou. You are everything to me and I would cherish every moment I would spent with you because it's one of the things I've always longed for.

But no.

Just no.

I turned the opposite direction and headed home.

(Still Sora's POV)

It's 9 PM. I was almost done with my homework when my phone rang.

I opened it and saw that Tenma was videocalling me. I answered and the scene displayed on my screen seemed to be like flashing lights in a club with Tenma's face lit up, his signature smile drawn on his face, and the rest of the Raimon team that seem to be having a lot of fun in the background.

"Woooh!!! Sora! Come on out and join us! The fireworks display is about to start and it's a show that'll be too good to miss!" Tenma yelled and he sounded a little drunk.

I picked up my homework and showed it on the screen. "Sorry. Need to finish these."

"What the hell?! Leave it to me, I'll do that for you. Come on out!"

"It's okay, I'll just stay here, Tenma."

"Fine then. I'm coming over to get you."

And with that Tenma ended the call. What did he mean by coming over to get me? He's not serious about it right? I shrugged the matter off and continued to finish my homework.

I was almost done with my last subject's homework when an incessant knocking on my window startled me. I got up and made my way to the window, only to see Tenma hanging on a nearby branch tapping my glass window like a mad woodpecker.

"What the heck are you doing out there?! Don't you know how to use the door?!" I ask, as I pulled Tenma in.

"There's no time to waste, Sora! Shindou needs you!"

"What are you talking about? What happened to Shindou?"

"He's gone completely mad and only your presence can turn him back into his normal state!"

I leaned closer to Tenma and sniffed. "You're not drunk are you?"

"Drunk? Duhh. Who gets drunk by drinking coke?"

"Alright, take me to Shindou," I said and followed him out the window.

We made our way to the town center with Tenma leading the way. I wondered what could've happened and how serious the situation is. But when I saw Shindou standing perfectly alright amongst the crowd, with a smile on his face, I can't help but think this was a setup.

"Hi, Sora. I'm glad you made it," Shindou casually said.

I responded by slapping him on the left cheek. "What the hell?! I thought something happened to you! I thought you had gone mad! Do you know that I had to stop doing my homework and go through the window with Tenma just to-----"

My outburst was cut-off by Shindou suddenly pulling me close to him in a warm and passionate kiss. A lot of things stopped for a moment. My thoughts, my breathing, and my body all came to a halt at the sudden situation. Loud noises were heard afterwards as the fireworks display started along with our kiss. I closed my eyes and allowed myself to kiss him back. If Shindou wasn't holding me I'd probably melt now for I never saw any of these coming.

After we broke the kiss I looked him in the eyes and couldn't help myself but ask, "Why? I thought you only treat me as a friend."

"I actually wanted to ask you, if you'd allow me to treat you more than that."

I smiled genuinely at his request and let him cup my face. "Of course. I love you."

"I love you too."
