Hayden's POV
Beep. Beep. Beep. That's my sisters fucking alarm. I open my eyes and see her waking up.
"Shut that damn thing off." I say groggily. She just rolls her eyes and turns it off. I go back to bed. Yea the daytime is my sleepytime since I work at night and have to go work again tonight. After I get some well deserved sleep I get up and go to the bathroom to get ready. I shower, do my hair, make up, and then walk out. I crawl out of the attic window and onto the roof. Oh did I not mention that? Yea, My twin and I live in an attic with our abusive aunt and uncle since our parents died 2 years ago. Our aunt and uncle made us get jobs so we could pay the bills and if we don't make enough we get beat harder. That's why my sister does barrel races and why I'm forced to be a stripper. Speaking of which my shift starts in 30 minutes but I want to say hey to Annabelle. I quickly run to the barn and see her grooming Sugerplum, her horse.
"Hey twinse! I got to go to work! Love you bye!"I said hugging her.
"Hey twinse! Ok love you bye!" She said hugging me. I ran into the house and grabbed my penny board and bag. I ran back out and onto the street. I skated down to the strip club I work at and went to the back entrance and the guard lets me by. I go get changed and wait for my stage name to be called. It was Roxie Fire. Don't even ask. Finally the dj calls my name and I strut out to the pole.
I do my little dances and shake what my mama gave me. When I'm done it's already 3am. I go collect my check and tips from the manager. I only give my aunt and uncle the check and I hide the tips and save them. I have around $2,000 saved so far. I gather my stuff and leave and skate home. I was right outside the door and hear Annabelle crying. I barge in making sure they know I'm here. Our uncle puts Annabell down when he saw me. Both him and my aunt came over and she took the check from my hands. My uncle punched me in the stomach and I fall to the ground. He keeps kicking and hitting me and my aunt joins in. Then he stomps on my wrist and I hear something break and I cry out in pain. Finally after what seemed like forever they stumbled to their room. I get up and look at my wrist. It was swollen and purple. I grab my penny board and skate to the hospital. There they say it's broken and I get a blue cast that matches my hair. I skate home and wake up Annabelle.
"Wake up we're leaving." I say. I grab my vans backpack and throw in all my tips and a hoodie. I go to the bathroom and change into ripped up black skinny jeans, a black Nirvana tank top, gray vans, and a gray beanie. I come out and Annabelle jeans, boots, a white shirt that say I <3 horses on it, and a red plaid shirt over it. I throw on a black jacket and we both look in the mirror. We couldn't be more different if we tried. We were at the window when Annabelle's eyes get wide.
"Wait! I can't leave Sugerplum! I need her!" she whisper yelled.
"Oh for God's sake! What do you wanna do ride her to freedom!?" I whisper yell. She nods her head and I roll my eyes. We jump out of the window and quietly sneak to the stables. We get there and wake up Sugerplum then secure my bag to the saddle. I jump in the front.
"Why should you ride in front!?" Annabelle whisper yelled.
"Because you'll obey the speed limits damn it! Get on!" I whisper yell and she hops on. We ride her quietly out of the barn and then take off down the street. We know all the back roads out of Tennessee so this won't be a problem. I ride until we get to Mimi's place. She was my friend at the strip club until she moved and the strip club was to far away. Sugerpulm was getting tired since it's around 7am now and we've been riding since 3am. I pull up to her house and jump off and knock on the door.
"Roxie!" she yells when she sees me. I hug her and tell her that we needed a place to rest. She invites us in and has a shed where Sugerplum can sleep. We put Sugerplum away and then Mimi shows us her guest room. We thank her then crawls into the bed to sleep then resume our riding in a few hours.
