26. Stay
"You don't have the kids?" NamJoon is surprised.
He didn't spend more than five minutes in the house before he realized. Already, Jungkook was pouring out his feelings to him. Both of them by the kitchen island, seated. Jungkook preparing them some hot chocolate.
It had only been twenty four hours since they last saw each other. In those hours Jungkook was already agitated, frustrated, and anxious. Part of the reason was he and SeokJin were at home alone and he had been drinking.
Nothing happened last night. No arguments, no confrontations, not even a glance. When Jungkook noticed he started to drink he went into his room. It was an early night, when he got ready for bed. There was still uncertainty of the night. Kookie couldn't help but stay up staring at his door. It was locked with a chair propped against it. Jungkook couldn't even say that to NamJoon without having him worry more.
"No, I cleaned and other things. I just wish I knew that they weren't here. My job is as a nanny, babysitter or whatever you want to call it." Jungkook handed him a cup of hot chocolate.
"If they're not here—can't you leave? Have time off? Unless they're coming back today." NamJoon also didn't see the point of him being in the house.
"I don't know when they're coming home. And it's not like I have somewhere to go," Jungkook replied.
Kookie couldn't invite himself to his home. His friends would be okay with a night or two but he would most likely be at an empty home. They liked going out and lately Jungkook wasn't in the mood. Not like he went out often before.
"You can come to my place. It's nothing big or fancy but you're welcome to stay there anytime. I'm sure both of us wouldn't mind." He was smiling over his last sentence. Kookie trying to laugh it off but blushing knowing what he meant.
"Or would you?" He teased Jungkook. Jungkook just hugged him hiding his face.
"I hate you," he mumbled against NamJoon's chest. Jungkook didn't let him go. He hugged Jungkook loving the feeling of him. Jungkook inhaling his cologne. He knew Jungkook loved the smell of it. How it wasn't overbearing and just musky enough for his taste.
"I like you too." NamJoon chuckled. "How about we sneak out for the day?"
"I don't know." Jungkook wanted to spend time with him but he also wasn't sure if the children would come back. The debate should've been clear.
"The kids aren't here and you said that you would be leaving soon. I'm sure one day wouldn't hurt." He tried to ease him into going along with his plan. Make the day less of chore and without guilt.
"Alright, but I will let the boss know. I don't want to leave on bad terms. Maybe I'll need his reference one day. Wait for me in my room and I'll be there in a minute. Yeah?"
Jungkook really didn't want to wake up SeokJin but it was better than coming back to trouble. Then Jungkook would know if the children were to return today. He could let Jin have his space and hopefully Jin would have to reevaluate his life. To reevaluate what they mean to one another. Jungkook needed to think about that himself. Within him he felt like he always knew what Jin would mean to him.
"I get to see your place." NamJoon smiled. Jungkook was doing the right thing. He was proud of Jungkook for not being persuaded easily and for doing things the way he thought right.
"Nothing exciting. Don't make a mess." Jungkook tried to joke but it was like he couldn't say one joke properly.
"You suck," Nam chuckled.
