I was speechless. My mouth was open, staring at him, in complete and utter shock.

I acted like I was getting back to work but I couldn't stop thinking about what Grayson just said.

I look back at Grayson and he looks up at me with a smirk.

I shook my head no and finished the paper.

I looked back at him in confusion.

Aniyah: what did you just say?

He got up and grabbed my arm.

I got inside the house and James was at the door looking pissed.

James: where the hell were you?!

Aniyah: I was at my... partners house for a project

James: ur supposed to be home by 6, ITS 8.

Aniyah: I'm sorry, we got caught up in the work

James: your gonna get it

He grabbed my arms and pushed me up against the wall. He put my arms above my head and grabbed the lighter.

Aniyah: JAMES STOP IT

He slapped me across the face and burned my arm. I kicked him in the balls and grabbed the lighter. I put it down and ran up to my room. I slammed the door shut and locked it. I looked at my arm and there was a huge burn all along my forearm. I put some water on it and a cold towel. I laid in my bed and broke down crying.

next morning

I woke up to a text message from Jae.

Jae: good morning

Aniyah: yeah, and James burned me last night all along my arm and it hurts so fucking bad

Jae: oh my god, again?

Aniyah: yep

Jae: so ur partnered with Grayson?

all the memories from last night flooded in. How the moans filled the room. How we made each other feel. God it felt so good.

Aniyah: yeah, he's making me do all the work

I got up and walked down stairs to get some medicine. My brother was there watching tv.

James: hey slut, where's mom?

I kept quiet knowing she was out of town for a few days.

He got up and grabbed me by the neck.

James: where. is. mom?

James: oh I see, okay, I'll be gone today so you are gonna be home alone

I nodded my head and made my waffles.

I looked at him and he was looking at my neck. It was a hickey.

He sneered at me and walked out. He slammed the door behind him. As soon as his car pulled out of the driveway, I locked the door and closed all the curtains.

I ran up to my room and called Jae. She answered immediately.

Jae: yeah??

Aniyah: come over, James is gone

Jae: I'll be there in 10

I hung up and cleaned up my room quickly.
