Tris

The darkness inside my eyelids begins to fade away as my eyes open.

I rub my eyes gently, trying to wake myself up.

My eyes pop open.

I scan the room in search of my friends and enemies. Everyone is fast asleep. I turn my body to see Tobias asleep as well.

He looks so peaceful when he sleeps. He doesn't have a care in the world or doesn't have to stress about the dangers and complications of the future or tortures of his past. He can be that young boy playing outside his front yard with a few neighbors that I saw when I was only seven years old.

He smiles in his sleep, something I hardly see on his face anymore.

He suddenly jerks forward, most likely a bad dream. His eyes pop open in fear. He turns to me harshly and quickly then relaxes when he sees my face.

"Bad dream?" I ask as I hug him under the covers.

"Yeah, no big deal. I've had it for the past week or so."

"That bad."

"No, just heart breaking. Honestly, it's not as bad as it sounds."

"You haven't told me how it goes," I say as I smile and lightly kiss his cheek.

"It's fine," he says sternly.

I say no more, not wanting to start a fight with him. We both look off into space as the silence only deafens.

"Breakfast?" he asks after a long pause.

"Sure," I say as I uncover myself with the sheets.

All I have on is my bra and underwear, so I quickly change into a shirt and pants.

Tobias changes quickly too. Suddenly, Caleb opens his eyes.

"Morning," he says as he grins crookedly.

"Hey," I say as I head towards the door.

"Where are you guys going?"

"Breakfast. Why?" Tobias asks harshly.

"Mind if I come?" he asks hopefully.

I look at Tobias frowning, knowing I should say no and back to Caleb, who smiles.

"Sure."

Tobias opens the door for only the two of us. He takes long strides and acts as if he is holding a grudge against Caleb.
