Tobias
"Uriah," I whisper across the truck.
He doesn't move.
"Uriah," I say softly.
He stirs awake and rubs his eyes.
"We better get moving. I would drive myself, but I don't know where we are going."
He gently lifts Christina's head off of his leg and puts his jacket underneath her head.
He walks over to the driver's seat and begins to drive.
After about thirty minutes, Tris wakes up. Dawn is breaking, so I can see her face.
"Morning," I say with a smile.
"Good morning" she says she sits up from on top of chest.
She sits next to me and gazes out the window.
"We should be there really soon," Uriah says with excitement.
I stare outside. Uriah must be driving quickly because we are driving past a forest, but all I see is blurry green.
After about an hour of a green blur, we come across a dessert.
"It won't be long now. Tobias, pass me a sandwich."
I walk over to the large food bag and open it up. I find a cheese sandwich and walk over and hand it to him. He devours it in one gulp.
"Thanks," he says as he continues to chew.
I sit back down. Tris finds my hand and places her's in mine gently. I squeeze it and smile.
Being on this truck brings back memories of when we were part of the Allegiant.
There is no need for the Allegiant now. We fixed the Bureau, my mother will probably be dead soon thanks to a rebellion against her, and Marcus is dead. He helped organize the Allegiant.
Who knew that after the Allegiant, after Marcus' death, I would still running away?
I thought I would stop running when he was dead. But here I am, looking for a new home.
"We're here!" Tris exclaims.
Tris, well, she has always wanted a home. She had one, a good one. But after her parents died and Caleb betrayed her, she hasn't been the same.
She cries more. She gets angrier at Caleb.
My only guess is that she wants a home. Unless there is something else, but I wouldn't know.
We walk hand in hand out of the truck walk to the opposite side of the road.
We look around. All I see is a dessert. Sand everywhere. I see trees or bushes without leaves. Their branches squiggle like snakes from the ground upwards.
There seems to be dust in the air but not much. Beyond the desser, less than a mile away, are the mountains. They armed steep or tall. The top is only about two miles above the ground.
"We should hike towards the mountain," Tris explains. "There is a group of people who live here. They will welcome us. Peter told me."
"Can we really trust him?" Christina asks. "He could just be leading us to certain death."
"He's changed. He wouldn't do anything to hurt us now. What motive would he have?"
We nodded in agreement.
"This way," I say as I take the lead. The others follow. There isn't much landscape, besides the desert and mountains. After about ten minutes, we notice figures or creatures coming towards us. They stop and let us continue towards them.
