Quiet town and even quieter residents. It was peaceful, mindful, and pleasant. No one disturbed and no one needed to look over their shoulders. The days passed along like a dream. It's only been a day since the sun last beamed. The familiar sounds and faces all around. Snow quickly falls to the ground. A friend stays near but he didn't show any fear. As the clouds began closing in and blocking out the sun, his obsession was just waiting for fun.

I hate Monday mornings, the start of the week is never pleasant. Every morning this past week has been a freezing mess with no sunlight. I groaned and forced myself to sit up, swinging my legs over the bed and making it so that they hovered over the floor. Desperate to just stay in bed and roll around in the blankets was all I wanted today. The cold weather slowed me down, I found it hard to take care of myself at times. Every task, no matter how small, felt heavy. Maybe things will get better when it gets warmer? Maybe. I daydream about throwing on my hoodie again and crawling back into bed just to feel warm again. Nearly threw myself off the bed as I made my way to the closet.

I threw on a brown coat that covered most of my body. Then some dark blue pants with winter boots. I finished it with a red scarf that covered most of my lower face. My goal is to make myself less approachable. Very little social interaction makes the day go by a little faster.

I nearly stumbled trying to grab my toothbrush. It'd be nice to have a decent excuse to miss class today, falling and accidentally hitting my head a little too hard. I wanted to laugh at the thought but sometimes I heavily consider it. I'd hope it would break the cycle of everyday being the same. Maybe I'd actually feel something for once. I spit into the sink and saw a mixture of the toothpaste with a small swirl of blood. I stared at my bleeding gums and rubbed my eyes before realizing I was just fooling myself. That's when I grabbed my brush and began grooming my quills. This winter was doomed from the start. Early school mornings aren't getting easier but I'm happy it's only college. My classes start a little bit later than most and the walking distance isn't too bad.

I grabbed my book bag and left my house to school. As I've said it wasn't too bad of a walk and if it wasn't for the snow I would probably be a little more happy.

I went to my first class and sat down next to my friend, Shadow. He wasn't a close friend, barely an acquaintance. I stuck around with Shadow in the mornings because he was the only person I knew in this class. It was part of my routine I guess. Hang with Shadow in the morning, then we part and I go to Amy and Tails who I consider my closest friends, for the rest of the day and then it's off to my house when it's over.

In the middle of class, our professor was doing his usual routine. Laptops are open, people are writing in their notebooks, some are fighting sleep and others seem to just exist in the background. Today felt different than most, our teacher actually had the lights on and bright, on normal days we like them dim or sometimes off. I figured this meant we were learning about something completely different. I was in a slight daze, thinking about that good feeling of going home and laying in bed. The bright lights in my face only made me sleepy. My professor kept his normal tone until I heard him say something that grabbed all my attention.

"Before class ends I've been tasked with reminding you all about some disturbing news. In case you didn't know, people have gone missing in this town and have been confirmed deceased within days." the professor said.

I sat up along with the rest of my classmates, our attention was 100% now after hearing that. My classmates cringed at the thought and leaned forward. If you were half-asleep, you were at least a little bit more awake after that. This was one of those small breaks we like to take before getting back into the lesson, it seems like we were spending it talking about a serial killer walking around town.
