Chapter 9 |A Smile Isn't Always Pretty|

|Sonic's.POV|

I didn't even want to fight back or anything, my face hurt so much that I covered my mouth with my hands just to keep from losing blood. Making it worse were the tears that constantly dripped down my face. I looked down at the blankets that had many different shades of red. What an awful traumatic thing to both witness and feel at the same time. I was so weak I could only cry while trying to cover my mouth which wasn't helping me out with anything.

I felt the monster come up to me and wipe off the blood on my face. I wasn't strong enough to push him away from me although I was tempted to bite his finger when he got too close to my mouth.

|Shadow's.POV|

I knew he would bleed from the stitches but, from the looks of it, he pulled on the stitches so hard that he broke the knots I made to keep it secure. Whatever, no big deal. I grabbed the needle and another long thread and tightened the stitches which stopped some of the bleeding. During that process, he would cry and whine but never fight back.

When I was done I grabbed a cloth and wet it a little, I started gently cleaning around his mouth area until the only red you could see on his face was the red bruising that went all around his new smile. And by that, he looked so precious when he looked up at me with his little eyes filled with tears. I leaned down and gave him a little kiss to which he responded by harshly biting my lip.

|Normal.POV|

"Ouch..." Shadow said backing away from his self-proclaimed lover. Sonic flinched in pain when the stitches reacted to his sudden movement.

When the room got silent to where you could only hear the birds chirping outside Shadow started laughing at him. Sonic with the little bit of strength that he had looked over at Shadow and felt confused and scared about what he would do next. To watch this crazy killer laughing at someone else's pain would make anyone's heart beat faster, as you never know what they are thinking or what they are capable of. Shadow calmed down after a few seconds swiped his finger across his lip and held it in front of Sonic.

"I can't tell if this is your blood or if it's mine." he chuckled.

A small tear fell from Sonic's eye as he lay still not saying a word since he didn't want to feel even more pain than what he was already feeling. Shadow scooted in right next to him to cuddle. He wrapped his arms around his waist and nuzzled his nose right into his neck. "You know I always dreamed of moments like this..." Shadow whispered

Sonic whimpered in pain and softly cried himself to sleep now that he had to deal with being trapped in a killer's home and having to deal with a brand new face. Shadow wiped away his tears and softly massaged his quills trying to stop his crying.

|Hours later|

The last time Sonic was awake the sun was rising and now the sun was about to go down. He opened his eyes and lay completely still afraid to hurt himself. The pain was still there but most of it felt numb at this point.

|Sonic's.POV|

I lightly lifted my head to see that all the blood that I coughed up was gone now. I guess Shadow cleaned up a little....but still, I'm not feeling any better. Mentally I feel like I wanna hang myself on a tree or better yet just rip my eyes out so I don't have to witness those awful things that Shadow has done to me.

Either way, what's done is done there's no going back from this one. I slowly sat up on the bed and afraid to turn my head around to look I pulled my hands out and felt around the bed. There was no one there.

But my ears shot up when I heard footsteps coming into the room. The monster walked in holding some thing in his hands that I couldn't see since my vision was still blurry from sleep.

"I swear I could watch you sleep for days, that's when you're the most beautiful," Shadow said.

He was by the nightstand and I heard the sound of a glass cup and a spoon. He was mixing something but I don't know what. I then smelled something sweet and it made me feel a little better.

I felt Shadow give me a cup, I think it was a teacup. I took a little sniff and it was tea. I never really liked tea all that much but I hadn't had anything for a while so I went for it only to burn the tip of my tongue and my lips. The pain set in when I felt the hot tea touch my stitches which made me cry again.

"Shh...I'm sorry I should've warned you that it was hot." Shadow warmly says, grabbing the tea from me. He took the spoon and with every sip of tea, he always blew a little on it to cool it down and then gave it to me to sip down. "You can't see it but your new smile makes you look so happy right now." he smiled.

I gave a low growl since I couldn't talk without hurting myself yet. He chuckled and gave me tea until the cup was only half full. I started to rub my eyes and a few seconds later I opened them and my vision came back so everything was more clear now. I turned my head to look at him and I swear he probably couldn't be anymore creepier than he already was.

I noticed he was just staring at me the whole time while his eyes seemed to glow whenever he looked at me like this.

"So....cute..." I heard him mumble out.

|Normal.POV|

Sonic's curiosity got to him, he wanted to find out what he looked like with a new face. So with his remaining strength, he got up out of bed and slowly walked over to a bathroom while Shadow followed.

The little blue one walked into the nearest bathroom and turned on the lights. Immediately he saw the same needle that Shadow used to make his smile. The very tip of it had dried blood that he knew belonged to him. And after taking another look he saw a couple of blood streaks and stains on the floor from the procedure. He put his hands over his mouth when he saw all the blood, and thought he was practically unconscious during the whole thing.

He almost fell to his knees and when he finally had it he looked in the mirror to see his new face.

"...Oh isn't it the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?" Shadow asked, tilting his head and giving another creepy smile. "Y-you..." Sonic stuttered. "y-you did this.....I trusted you as a friend and when you threatened that I didn't smile you'd stitch me a new smile..." He hated his reflection so much that he clawed at his face trying to rip out his own eyes.

Shadow tried to grab Sonic's arm and calm him down. But instead of calming down, Sonic grabbed the needle and stabbed Shadow in the arm with it.

When Sonic saw the opportunity he made a run for it but as soon as he started bolting Shadow reached out his hand to try and stop him the only thing he was able to grab was a hanging piece of thread from Sonic's stitched smile. This tore some of Sonic's skin and he fell to the ground bleeding all over again. Shadow pulled out the needle from his arm and threw it to the floor making a small sound that almost sounded like a bell.

He walked over to Sonic and gently put his hand over his mouth. "Shh..just breathe through your nose." Shadow calmly said. Shadow tucked the loose thread back in place on Sonic's smile and stayed for a good 20 minutes with his hand over Sonic's mouth calming him down.
