Chapter 20 |His Wicked Heart|

|Sonic's.POV|

"Damn it Sonic!! Get back here!" Shadow shouted. I screamed and ran downstairs. I think he was serious about killing me this time. I had bothered him so much that I crossed the line, and this time he wasn't his normal and gentle self. The aggressive monster inside him was out and it wasn't going to leave any time soon. I quickly shut my mouth and continued running until I made it out the front door. Even though they were distant, I could hear his footsteps in the distance approaching me.

I wanted to say that I was sorry, but I didn't think that he'd forgive me or acknowledge that for even a second. My breathing was uneven and my throat started to hurt a bit as I felt myself breathe in the cold night of winter. Shadow was approaching even closer and I was full of adrenaline and fear.

"Shadow!! Stop!" I screeched out.

"Then get back here!" He shouted.

"If you trusted me!" He continued. "Then you'd know that I wouldn't hurt you!!" He shouted louder.

I couldn't see him, so I wouldn't know if he had a weapon or not. And as risky as it was to stop, it became my next move. I stopped in my tracks and turned around to see Shadow standing far away. This meant that he had stopped running after me. He'd given up on trying to catch me for some reason. If I continued running, I'd have no idea that he wasn't chasing me anymore.

He looked up at me from that long distance and sighed.

"Is that it?!" I shouted. "You were just gonna let me go?!" I yelled.

He started walking up to me so that he didn't have to yell for the people in their houses to come out and hear or catch us doing something suspicious.

"You would've left me again," he said. "You would've fallen out of my grasp for the second time," he said.

"When I saw you run...it reminded me about that time when you almost left me again...and since you were gonna escape anyway." he continued, holding onto my cheek. "I figured that it wouldn't be worth chasing you. So I'll set you free," he said again and let go of my cheek.

His touch was so warm and gentle. But the cold breeze had let go of that moment. "Wh-What do you mean by setting me free?" I asked. "I was never trapped."

He turned around and motioned me to follow him back to the house. So I held onto my arm and did as he said. When we did arrive back home, he went into his closet and pulled out a small box.

Which inside had contained plenty of things. But the one thing that he pulled out and showed me, was a camera. "Do you like taking pictures?" I asked. "You like taking pictures." he interrupted.

"This is mine?" I asked while holding onto the camera. "Before you lost your memory...that was and still is your camera," he said. I turned it on and immediately was able to look through all the pictures. "That's me?"

Shadow nodded and sat down by the bed with his arms folded while looking out the window. I kept scanning through the pictures and noticed one huge difference.

My stitched smile was nowhere to be seen. It shows pictures of people that I don't think I've ever met before. Although I will admit that they had something familiar that made me question if I had met them before.

As I kept scanning through the pictures, I eventually made it to a short video that showed me sitting by a window and looking outside in the rain.

Sonic was leaning against the window while looking outside in the rain, he was posing and waiting for his buddy Tails to take the picture. "Did you take it?" Sonic asked still posing. "Um. Is this red dot supposed to be blinking?" Tails asked confused. Sonic sighs and looks back at the camera. "Tails, you dummy, you hit record" Sonic chuckled and walked up to Tails.

I looked back at the video and the result of the picture that showed me sitting by the window. I don't know who this "Tails" person is, but they must've been a friend of mine.

I smiled at the video but felt a little sad when I realized that I couldn't remember this ever happening. But it seemed like I wasn't the only one who was sad. I turned my head to see Shadow covering his eyes and looking down. He was crying...

"Shadow, what's wrong?" I asked and kneeled by his side. "I only wanted you so badly," he said. "You were the only one I needed." He wiped a tear off his cheek. "I won't lie, darling, I'm proud of everything that I've done to you," he said and slid his finger through my stitches. "I put this on your face and now I don't see you frowning at me anymore. I don't see you crying anymore. You can never push me away from you." he pulled me closer to him.

"I slaughtered your friends and burned them in the fireplace downstairs a long time ago. You saw all of it, right before I struck you...right here," he said and pointed to a certain spot on my head. He stopped crying and said his next words with a shivering tone in his voice. "And now you have no memory of any of it." he snarled. I gasped at his words and he pulled me closer to him, our faces barely touching.

"And now you're a bloodthirsty cannibal who did the unthinkable." he made me shiver.

"I took a little advice and tried a little bit of a hedgehog myself." he chuckled out loud. "And I'll admit that it's not a bad taste, I wish that I'd have done this a long time ago." he stared deeply into my eyes.

"If only you could see what I had offered," I said and kissed him. He happily kissed back which made me excited. "We're not so different." I kissed him again. "Can't you see it now?" I asked and kissed him some more.

Maybe I had friends and a mother at one point. But it doesn't matter to me anymore. When I had Shadow right here all to myself, my past life was nothing but the past. Fuck everyone and everything that lay in my past, I don't need it now, nor did I need it then.

I kissed Shadow with so much desire, it had driven me crazy that we'd never go any further than this. I pulled myself up and sat on his lap while my hands caressed his face. He happily kissed me back and for a moment I had forgotten that we had a rude awakening just moments ago.
