Chapter 12 |Awakening|

|Sonic's.POV|

I scraped my knees as I fell on the hard concrete. There was a small blood trail leading to my knees. But the situation I was in and all that adrenaline made me ignore the pain. Amy and Tails both stood there in shock when Shadow came bolting out of the darkness. At that moment I thought that this was the last time I'd see Tails and Amy alive.

|Shadow's.POV|

I came running out of the dark Shadows and was greeted with such an unusual sight. Two of Sonic's friends were in shock looking back at me and Sonic, all while Sonic was on the ground looking like he was about to pass out again. I looked at the situation carefully. Sonic was not gonna be running away anytime soon with the little bit of energy that he had so that wasn't gonna be a problem. Now with the other 2, it was hard to figure out what they were gonna do, they only stood still with their heads turning to look at me and then Sonic. This lasted a good 3 seconds before I made my decision.

|Tail's.POV|

The situation was a true life-or-death kind of situation. But I couldn't decide my fate when I saw something that lightly shined from the street light. Shadow was holding a knife in our direction and started coming after us. I remember letting go of Amy's hand and I ran away as fast as I could down the dark streets of this neighborhood. I passed by house after house and streetlight after streetlight just trying to get away. My heartbeat was so loud that it was the only thing I could hear. It was only interrupted when I heard a scream from behind me. I closed my eyes tightly and stopped at where I was. I took the longest deep breath before I turned around to see nothing but Sonic on his knees under the same streetlight where I first ran away. Amy and Shadow were nowhere in sight. I heard her scream echo through the neighborhood but I couldn't see her from where I was. All I could see was Sonic right there all by himself.

He looked sad and miserable...so miserable that I couldn't help but do it.

|Sonic's.POV|

A small puddle of my tears lay in front of me. I could see the reflection of my hideous face with the streetlight shining on the dirty concrete. The blood from my mouth poured out onto my legs. I was cold and tired out here all by myself. I couldn't get up from the floor to even run away. I'm fine with just dying right here if it means that I don't have to suffer from Shadow anymore. I felt someone touching my shoulder and shaking me a bit. "Sonic hurry! Before he gets back!" I heard the familiar voice say. "No Tails....please go..call the c-cops...you aren't..going to...make it if you...stay much longer," I muttered. Tails grabbed me by my arms and tried to make me stand up, but my legs failed at trying to stay up. The blood coming out of my mouth was dripping over his shoulder. There's no way I can make it by running away and Tails isn't strong enough to carry me out of this.

"Tails please just go...I don't want you to die...I don't want you suffering the same fate as the others did." I cried out. He wasn't listening to me and he kept trying to hold me up over his shoulder. He doesn't know how bad it is with Shadow, I've seen him murder innocent people right in front of me. But that's the difference here, those were strangers, and this was my best friend.

|Shadow's.POV|

Her blood ran cold in her corpse as I carried her back to my lover. Blood dripped on the concrete leaving a trail of it up to where I was walking to. For a second I forgot that there were 2 of them that I had to deal with. He looked pathetic trying to escape with Sonic who was not strong enough to get up and run. This was just so easy for me that I let out a chuckle.
