Chapter 27 |Alone For A While|

Around 2 weeks have passed and I still haven't seen any daylight in a while. They let me out every once in a while to walk in the sun where there's fresh air. But I'll say that it's not always a happy time. Once a week I was able to see Shadow and have visitation with him. He'd be put in my room for a good 30 minutes with guards watching of course and we'd talk, but do nothing more. We weren't allowed to touch or kiss or even hug. He was right in front of me and I couldn't have him anymore. Today was another happy day of being able to see him again. We both sat on the cushy floor on our knees and talked.

"A little shocked that they haven't put us down yet", I said. "They aren't going to do that anytime soon", he said. "They still want to study our behavior, find out why we have motives and stuff", he continued. I looked down at his hands and noticed that he was wearing regular handcuffs over his hands. There was even cuffs on his ankles so that he could walk but not run. Even I had a little more freedom as my new cuffs were like soft gloves where I could actually use my fingers. I just couldn't take them off. They were still comfy and soft so I couldn't hurt myself or others and they were locked on my wrists.

"So any hallucinations recently", he whispered. "Well...not really. Maybe a couple but they weren't bad", I said. Truthfully there was nothing really happening in this room. So having hallucinations was becoming a little more tricky to spot. For all I know I could be hallucinating right now and maybe I'm back at home in my comfy bed just having a really bad dream.

"They... They aren't letting us leave here", I said. "Of course not, they see us as monsters. After finding out the things we did, there's no way they'd let us back into society", he said. I cried a little. "Shadow I don't wanna spend the rest of my life in here", I said. "We don't have to", he whispered."I took a couple notes in my head and thought of a little something", he whispered. I leaned in a little closer to hear him better.

"Saturdays are the days when I leave my cell to go for walks outside," he said. I noted that he was going to do something on Saturday, today was Wednesday. "I don't want these guards to catch on so you listen carefully," he whispered.

"F-lowers are the prettiest things in the world," he said in a normal voice.

"I have been in love with you for a long time."

"R-oyal treatment is everything that you deserve."

"E-verything in my heart belongs to you." he finished

I shook my head in disbelief, how could he start a fire? I played along with what he was saying.

"Aww Shadow, you're so sweet." I replied and gave a little wink showing that I got the message. He nodded softly and when time was up for visitation, the guards took him away. "I'll come back for you." he said, I blew him a kiss and laid back down on the cushy floor. The only entertainment I had was the ball that they left for me so I played with that for a while, cradling it in my legs and throwing it around the room.

For once I was pretty happy, but also a little worried. If Shadow didn't pull this off successfully then for sure he'd be put down. It'd be a bigger risk if he was to come back to get me out of here too. I just hoped it doesn't get us in bigger trouble than what we were already in.

If Shadow fails this, we're actually gonna die on the spot. My whole body started shaking, I don't want to die. At least not here in the place of my nightmares. I shook my head and laid down again, we'll be fine. I know we'll be alright. At least I know I will if Shadow's protecting me.
