Aqueous' Point Of View

****************************

I snap out of my trance when we hit a bump causing me to hit my head off the roof of the dog kennel I'm being kept in. I've been in this crate, give or take, five hours minus the time I was knocked out preoccupying myself with only my imagination. You'd be surprised how much imagination a 14-year-old still has.

I hear a loud thud that comes from a crate beside me with a boy in it who's been trying to bust down the door for almost the entire time I've been awake. Poor boy, he doesn't know that his teenager ego will only get him so far. I think I'm gonna call him Bam-Bam. There's also another girl, but she hasn't said a word and looks like she just walked into her first teenage sleepover.

I chuckle to myself but it's interrupted by another bang. "Can you just stop, I'm starting to get a head ache from all the ruckus you're causing." I say, "Hey truck driver, can I get some Ibuprofen or ooh, Acetaminophen would be great!" I shout trying to irritate the driver but nothing comes from it except another loud bang from my stentorian neighbor.

"Hey can you pip-"

"I'm sorry if I'm the only one who wants to get out of here instead of just sitting and waiting to be  murdered by the next Ramadan Abdel!" He shouts interrupting me.

"First of all, don't you even try to interrupt me, second of all, do you even know who Ramadan Abdel is?" I shoot back.

"Yes, he was a serial killer, and personally, getting killed by a serial killer is not on my bucket list." he snaps back.

"Do you you think I want to get killed by a serial killer," I question, "No, but unlike you I'm saving my energy for the right moment to get out then." I answer my own question. He stays silent, and from the silence continuing, I know he chose my method over his.

"What even is your name?" he questions.

"It's Aqueous, but my friends call me Q," I answer, "Yours?"

"Sear"

~~

The rest of the ride stays quiet until I feel the truck pull to a stop, so I stand and get ready to take any chance I'm given.

When the door swings open two men in hazmat suits walk in -- what do they think we are, contagious? -- and start to stalk towards our cages. I watch cautiously as one takes the keys off his belt to starts unlocking my cage. Right when I here the click I slam the door with all my might and surprisingly, the men go flying. Guess I don't know my own strength. I grab the keys and unlock the other two cages.

"You're gonna help me?" Bam-B, Sear questions.

"Um...ya...I'm not a horrible person you know." I quickly answer and start to unlock the other girls cage. When I get it open I offer her a hand but she just stands their and stares at it like she was seeing the world from a whole new prospective. When she she doesn't take it I throw her a "suite yourself" and start to run out the door but Sear stops me.

"We're not leaving her!" he states.

"Well she isn't coming, so what are we supposed to do?" I shout back. He doesn't answer, but instead, goes to the girl and starts to talk to her. Surprisingly, in a matter of seconds, she's taken his hand and he's leading her out the truck. Love-struck idiots,  I scoff to myself.

I'm about to jump out of the truck when something sticks to my back following about 50,000 volts of painful shock causing me to go limp and crumble to the ground. I look up weakly to see the two men, now conscious, walking towards me, one with -- you guessed it -- a taser in hand. Then I look back to Bam-Bam and mumble something like 'get out of here' and 'leave me behind' but I can really speak so it comes out as mumbled baby talk.

Things are starting to get blurry but I notice Bam-Bam running towards me...Things go black. Then I open my eyes to see he's on the ground with the guys over top of him tasering him...Things go black. When I open my eyes a second time I don't see the guys anymore. Instead, I see the girl, standing with vines connected to her palms, standing over Sear. She looked the same besides one feature, her eyes were glowing green. I black out again and this time, I don't wake up.

I appear in a dream. I'm in a woods but its definitely not where we were before. I start to walk around but stop when I here someone, or something, calling my name. I follow it and it brings me to some tree. Now this wasn't any ordinary tree, this tree had sort of bluish bark and in the center of it, something resembling a black hole. I'm frozen staring at it but eventually start moving my hand toward the strange glowing object. When my hand touches the portal-looking everything goes black.

~~

I wake up sitting straight from the position I was laying in. I'm breathing hard and I'm trying to focus my eyes the the darkness I'm apparently in when a hand grabs my shoulder. I fly around and feel my hand come in contact with a face and then see Sear stumble back holding his face with a look of shock plastered on it.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" I hiss out an apology.

"S'fine" he mumbles back. Apparent that he just woke up from the mutter response.

"Where are we?" I question.

"Some cave we found."

"Hey, can I ask you something?" I ask another question.

"Ya, sure"

"What happened back there?" I interrogate. And from the look on his face, he was hoping I wasn't going to bring that up.

"Um...I'm not really sure." he answers, "I was knocked out but when I woke, All I saw was Terenne standing with vines hanging off her hands wrapped around the two men."

"Oh"

"It took all my might to snap her out of what ever she was in" he continued voice cracking, "She almost killed them!" He needed to stop because he was about to brake down -- he obviously cares about her. I move over to him and wrap my arm around him. Then I say something that surprises not only him, but me as well.

"I know a place where we'll be safe."
