NOTE TO READERS:
Alright guys. I don't know if ANY of my readers are still out there, but I am back. I was on a long hiatus, but I've decided to start writing again. But here's the thing, I'm gonna need feed back. Seriously. If it sucks, tell me. Be like dude. Stop writing. But... If you like it, let me know. Let me know your ideas. I really wanna hear them. And with that, I bring you one more chapter of this. But if I don't get some feedback, I don't think I'll write anymore on this one.
*************
"Whaddya mean? Nattie?"
She just shook her head and smiled, as the door opened.
"Nattie!"
"Kane." She said, batting her eyelids and smiling.
Spencer and I looked at each other, stifling giggles.
Kane looked shy, and light blush rising up on his freckle flecked cheeks.
He ran a hand through bleached blonde hair, scanning his yard.
"Well, come in."
We followed him into his house, and sat down in the small living room.
"Kane, I think you know why we're here."
He bit his lip. "Yeah Nattie, yeah I think I do."
"I have a favor." she said forawardly.
"I do too," he said, "you first."
"Kane, we need your guns."
"I figured that was it. I dug out all I could find. Grandad's gone. He left outta here a week back, he took half the guns and most of the food. Said he was going camping. I kinda have to think he knew what was happening."
Nattie chewed on her lip. "What do you need from us."
"Look Nattie, I know this is a lot to ask-"
"Spit it out."
"Don't leave me here alone. I can't survive on my own. If you want my guns... Well I come with them."
Nattie turned and looked at us, her eyebrows raised in question.
Spence and I looked at her incredulously. "Uh, Duh Nattie."
She and Kane shook on it, and loaded his weapons and the remnants of his food into the van.
**********
Spencer stretched out across the seat less back of our van.
"Hae, this is like the one time I'm glad we drive around in a hippie van with no backseats, "He said laughing bitter sweetly.
He and Kane fist pumped.
"I'm glad you two can find humor in the sitch," I said, a bit Jaded.
"What's your deal?" Kane seemed taken aback.
"In her defense, there's dead people walking around."
At this point Nattie made a point to turn up the stereo, which was playing "Living Dead Girl" .
"Not sure this is the most appropriate time for Rob Zombie, Nat."
Nattie looked at us through the rear view, smiling broadly.
"Anyways," Spencer breathed, "We just gotta stay calm." He said, seeming more like his normal self. "What do you know about this, Kane?"
Kane's mouth turned up at the corner. "What do I know? Guys, this was all Nattie and I talked about from like 7th grade to like... that's still all we talk about," he laughed, looking at Nattie, " That and her unhealthy obsession with the Sex Pistols."
"Sid Vicious." She breathed in a fan girly voice. We all shared a laugh.
Spencer sighed, and laughed. "Look out Hell, here we come."
