"What is she complaining about now- Kane look!"
My throat tightened around the panic rising up in it as I beheld the sea of the dead coming over the horizon, attracted by the car alarm we'd so carelessly caused to go off.
"Maybe we still have time to grab some water and gas?" Kane said panicked, firing off a few rounds in rapid succession, all of them missing their mark.
"There's no time," I said laughing nervously, " check it out, Spence is already back in the van."
I headed back to the van quickly, grabbing an empty gas can from the ground. This would come in handy, I could just feel it.

My heart beat rapidly as I pulled open the van door and threw my body inside.
I rolled over on my back, breathing heavily, trying to calm myself down. I was so gonna get teased for this. I can't handle living like this.
"You okay, Spence?"
"You mean am I bit?" I asked a bit sorely.
"No, I mean, are you okay."
I didn't want it to be like this. Spencer and Haely, the two gimps they had to drag along, nice enough to scoop them up so they could survive. I could already see it, Nattie and Kane developing those elitist attitudes just like everyone else. It would be just like school.
I shook my head, trying to clear my head of painful memories and paranoid scenarios that just seemed to develope in my head.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I sighed, sitting up.
"Hey, don't let it bum you out."
"Huh?" Was I thinking out loud?
"The whole running from zombies thing. They're scary... Kane and Nattie are crazy.
"Yeah I guess..." I sighed, "It's just so emasculating." I laughed.
"Like you were all that masculine before," she laughed, lightly punching my arm.
I laughed too, even though it was kind of true.

It seemed like a freakin' eternity before we got to that damn van. Seriously.
For some reason, my aim was off today, and I just couldn't seem to hit anything, This sucked.
I casually checked Nattie out as she climbed into the van. Not bad. I breifly thought about this being the for real end of the world, and decided that if I had to repopulate the planet or somethin weird like that, Nattie wouldn't be so bad to do it with.
I swear I slammed a ghouls hand in the door. We were seriously that close.
I climbed into the drivers seat and attempted to start the car. Nothing at first.
You're effin; kidding me.
Again, nothing, Then- .... chug chug chug chug.
"Is this for real, right now?" Haely asked exasperated.
"Shut up for a second!" I hushed her, panicking a little. I mean, seriously. A horde the size of the freakin' Roman Calvary was creeping up on us, and there's just some things you cant drive out of.
I tried again, and this time the car started.
"Thank...whoever's up there." Spencer laughed.
"We're not out of this yet," I mumbled, mowing down some ghouls.
The gigantic horde was behind us though, and in front of us, nothin' but highway.
