"You gotta be calm, Hae, calm down." Nattie cooed soothingly.

"Calm down?!" I shreiked, hand ever so close to the rotten broken teeth of the monster that had a hold of me.

"Be as still as you can," Nattie breathed, looking down the sights of a large gun that I didn't know the name of. "Don't move Haely." She breathed twice and slowly squeezed the trigger.

A bullet whistled past me, striking the ghoul right between the eyes. Or if you wanna be technical, it was slightly to the left. But it did the trick, nonetheless.

I watched in slow motion it seemed, as the ghouls head exploded. I felt faint.

I hastily yanked my hand back into the car, delayed tears welling up in my eyes.

My head spun and the voices around me were muffled.

"Haely! Haely... Haely......haeeelyyyyy...."

"Is she bit?"

"I dunno, check her for bites and wounds..."

I blinked, as some one eased me down to the floor of the van.

"Whoa whoa check out her wrist!"

I looked up,  and surprisingly to me, into Spencer's worried eyes.

"Spencer," I mumbled, "Spen...I don't understa..... why is my wrist feel warm?" I babbled. I was so weak, it as difficult to talk.

"Shhh shhh. quiet Hae. Don't talk. Nat's bullet grazed your wrist when she fired. You're losing a lot of blood. We've got it under control. You're gonna be okay.

"Spencer, I-" hot tears spilled down my cheek, and I tried furiously to blink them away.

"Shhh," he cooed, wiping the tears away with his thumb," Don't look at it. Look at me. Nat and Kane are handling it."

I swallowed, breathing deep, trying not to lose consciousness.

"You're Okay Haely. You're okay."

I closed my eyes.

"Here, drink some water before you sleep."

"Are they all dead?" I whimpered, trying to sit up.

"Whoa whoa, lay down," He whispered, gently pushing me back down," are who dead?"

"Those things?" I breathed, laying back down.

A smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "Well they were dead before, but I suppose for all intensive purposes, yeah, they're gone.

I nodded as Spencer handed me a bottle of water. He helped me sit up, and I drank a few sips, then lay back down. I closed my eyes, and he started to get up and get in the front seat.

"Don't go," I whimpered, reaching for his arm, fingers fluttering up to his wrist. A tear escaped my eye and cascaded down my cheek.

"Okay, Okay. I'll stay. Shh. Don't cry. I'll stay." He sat back down next to me and held my uninjured hand, rubbing the inside of my wrist with his thumb.

I tried to choke back the tears that were welling up. What it turned into was a series of pathetic sounding hiccup-y sobs.

"Aww," Spencer laughed sympathetically, "It's been rough. You're Okay Hae. Nattie's back on the road. Kane's keeping better watch. You're safe. Get some sleep.

I sighed, closing my eyes and squeezing his hand. "Shhhh." He cooed. My body still shook with silent hiccup sobs. Then he surprised me with something he'd never done before. He started brushing my hair back behind my ear. It was so relaxing, so soothing, I felt like nothing was wrong in the world. I yawned and snuggled into my makeshift bed. He laughed softly.

"There's my girl. Get some sleep H."
