Today was unusually cold. Since I've been living here for years, I'd gotten used to the weather, but today was different. It was the type of chill that sent shivers up my spine, the kind you get when fear empowers you.

I wore black jeans, sneakers, a long sleeved t-shirt, with many layers of sweaters and jackets, the final layer being a hoodie. I also had a beanie on. Remaining vigilant, I walked towards the warehouse.

As I entered, there stood Cedric, in the middle. Bodyguards surrounding the perimeter, no doubt there were hidden agents and snipers all around me, in case I decided to do any funny business.

"Cedric, a pleasure to see you, as always," I sarcastically said, smiling at him. Chase's brother was two years older than me.

"Ah Kensi, glad to see you too," he sarcastically replied, and then rolled his eyes.

"Book. Now."

As I reached for my bag two bodyguards stepped forward but Cedric held his hand up, "She's not stupid enough to try anything."

I took out the Black Book and handed it to him wordlessly. My face held a blank expression as he smirked at the book that he now held.

"You're going to kill me now, aren't you?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Why do you think that?" Cedric mused.

"I'm just curious," I replied, looking around.

Five on top, one sniper in the building across, four on the perimeter inside, two outside in the front and two in the back.

"You have the book now, are you going to leave me alone from now on?" I asked, a hint of annoyance in my voice.

Cedric grinned, "Actually, we have some people who'd like to see you."

Two people walked inside and I kept a poker face, "Nice to see you again Kensi," William said.

"Can't say the same about you," I gritted.

He was my friend, all those months ago, I had trusted him. Such a fool, I'd let my guard down.

William had told me he found out I was part of Venom when we were doing our Art project and I was having a conversation with Ethan and told him to go upstairs. He had found faint clues buried in my room and later put the pieces together. So William was a member of The Eye, was the rest of the team? Was Chase? He seemed to be clueless about our break-up, but he also didn't seem devastated, was it all for show? Did he really care?

William killed the engine, grabbed the packet of paint and we made a dash for the door. I swiftly unlocked it and we ran inside. My parents and Ethan were seated in the living room. It was evident they wanted to talk to me. "Why don't you go up to my room," I whispered to William. He nodded and ran upstairs.

My mind flashed to that day. That imbecile. They hadn't tied me up, so that must mean they wanted me alive. "Why did you do this to me?" I asked, curiosity clouded my question.

William pursed his lips, "You had something we wanted. Simple."

Something in my mind flashed, there was no way William did this willingly. I remember at the park he told me that the first thing they do was take away your choices. There is something at large.

"And what does cutting ties with the team, or breaking up with Chase have to do with any of this?" I asked. William tensed.

"Nothing, it was funny watching you break," Cedric grinned, shooting me a smug look.

I rolled my eyes at him, pretending his reason didn't get to me. I know William was the person messaging me, obviously under Cedric's instruction.

"Okay," I sassed, placing my hand on my hip, "I know you're not the one in charge, and I only deal with the boss, so where is the boss?"

Cedric grinned, "I've been waiting for you to say that."

Two figures stepped out of the shadows, my eyes widened in genuine shock. This, was not what I was expecting.

"Dr Reynolds?" I asked, blinking to make sure I was seeing correctly.

Lucas stood behind her, "You wanted to speak to the boss, I'm here," she stated.

I stayed with her for weeks, we trusted her.

"And Lucas is also a member of The Eye?" I asked, trying to confirm my suspicions.

"Yes, unfortunately, due to my son's poor judgement, he won't be informed of any missions," she coldly stated, staring pointedly at Lucas. Once she turned back to me, Lucas scowled at the ground.

Thank you Lucas, you might just be my getaway ticket. His mother is obviously a professional liar, otherwise she wouldn't be the head of The Eye. She's controlling and very persuasive, Lucas obviously gets bossed by her and she underestimates him. He doesn't like this. I can help him. She's obviously clouded his judgement.

Cedric handed her the Black Book, that held all of the names of Venom's agents globally. She frowned as she turned the pages, I had to hold back a grin.

"What is this? Where are the names?" She demanded, annoyance lacing her voice.

"Right there," I innocently replied, "You guys wanted the Black Book, and there it is. Intel said it'd have the names, it never said it would be in English."

I'm not that stupid, that wasn't really the Black Book. I'd burned that book years ago, in this book were the names of cities. Sometimes, having a photographic memory is a true gift. Everything had to be believable, I had to cut ties with the team, I had to break up with Chase, all so that The Eye thought they were controlling me. But that's where they went wrong, you can't tame a snake, in the end it will always get what it wants.

"You will suffer for this," Marissa said, looking furious. Her guards were on standby.

They had searched me when I entered but I just moved the tiny ball whenever they did. Lots of practice, but definitely handy.

"But I thought you knew?" I innocently asked, "A soldier's work is never done."
