"Once a deep and powerful connection has been made between two people, there is no separating them. No measure of distance or silence can prevent the outbreak of smiles and laughter or the strong desire to leap into each other's arms when they come together once more."

"So that's a wrap on our lesson," Uncle Greg concluded.

I got up and was ready to dash out the house when my phone beeped.

Lucas: I'm outside :)

I said goodbye to Uncle Greg and sprinted. No matter how brain dead I was, my legs were always prepared for fight or flight mode. I had woken up at eight am today. I know that might not be weird for some people but my sleeping patterns were messed up due to all the drama in my life, therefore I was extremely tired when I woke up. To top it all off I had forgotten I had tutoring today and my brain was not ready for information overload, but thankfully, I survived.

"That bad?" Lucas asked as I entered the car.

"Worse," I replied, "I forgot how much work school is."

"Tell me about it," he chuckled, driving to his house.

As soon as we reached Melissa's house I ran up to the room I was staying in. I stared at the screen displaying the mysterious messages. Truth was, I'd been thinking about it the whole day - that's why I could not concentrate properly at my tutoring.

Time to put my skills to the test. Before I was going to do anything I needed to call an old friend.

The phone rang three times until he picked up, "Hey rookie!"

"Kensi? Is that you?" He asked, shock laced his voice.

"No hey, it's Casper," I sarcastically replied, rolling my eyes and letting a chuckle escape me.

"Whatcha need?" He asked.

"Okay, so remember that time I saved your life, time to cash in my favour," I said. I called him rookie because as a child I used to go with my dad to work often, my dad's been an agent since the time I was one. Well that's what he told me. Anyway, when I would go to work there was this boy about two years older than me there. Apparently his father was also working with my dad and we became friends. Even when we stopped coming to work with our fathers as we were in the middle of high school - we kept in contact. I called him rookie because now he's a new FBI agent but also because  when I visited my dad in the office when I was five he was also there and I'll never forget what my dad said, "Hey rookie, be careful, she drowns oceans." I'm still trying to figure out what that means. But when we were small he always spoke about being an agent with such enthusiasm. We'd play spy games using our hands as guns. Such good memories. All the people in the office would call him rookie since he was a clumsy kid and would drop everything and even trip over himself - so he could never fully complete a task. The name's stuck since.

"Oh no, I dreaded this day," he groaned.

"Too bad, it's happening. Anyway, news travels fast. How can you not contact your childhood friend when you're in Australia? Am I not cool enough for you anymore Jake?" I feigned hurt.

"You're in Australia?" Jake asked, still recovering from shock.

"Yes slow coach. Damn, you were always the slow one in this friendship," I stated.

"Well excuse me if my old friend is calling after months!" He accused.

"Hey! You could've called y'know! And I've been busy," I explained, "Anyway, would there be a possibility we could meet? I need help with something and it's urgent," I told Jake.

"Sure, when and where?" He asked.

"Tomorrow. I'll meet you at Starbucks and take you to the house," I said.

"Fine by me. See you tomorrow Princess," Jake told me.

"Oh gosh! Go away loser! Don't call me that stupid name," I groaned.

"Not my fault you came parading around in your princess costume and practically broadcasted to the world that you wanted to be a princess when you grow up!" He said, defending his words.

My alarm went off. That ended up with my phone falling on the floor. It's nine am. Ugh, schoolwork is tiring.

I got out of bed and got myself ready for the day. I ran down the stairs to the kitchen when I bumped into Lucas. "Woah, where you going Kensi?"

"Meeting an old friend," I informed him.

I had some corn flakes cereal with tea. Lucas offered to give me a ride but I told him I'd rather take my car.

When I reached Starbucks I went on my tippy toes to search the crowded place for Jake and I finally spotted him, at a table in the secluded corner - typical.

"Jakey!" I squealed and outstretched my arms for a hug, he got up and pulled me in for a hug. Man I missed my best friend. There's just no words to describe how ineffable it feels to gain your best friend back.

"One chocolate mocha for you," he said, handing me the cup and I smiled. Of course he'd order my fave drink.

We exited the cafe after I thanked him for paying. We chatted in the car, speaking about everything we've missed out on until we reached Melissa's house.

When we reached I used my key to open the door and Lucas was in the living room watching tv. "Hey Kensi-" he turned his head around and saw Jake, "- and Kensi's friend."

"Hey, I'm Jake," rookie introduced.

Lucas got up from the couch and went to shake Jake's hand, "I'm Lucas," he smiled.

"I need Rook- I mean Jake to help me with something so yeah," I told Lucas and grabbed Jake's arm and pulled him to my room.

I filled Jake in on the messages from the unknown number. The reason I needed Jake was because he has crazy computer skills and he'd be able to help me. He's not working for the FBI at the age of twenty for nothing.

As Jake finished telling me the plan I got two new messages.

Unknown: Try to hack me Kensi
Unknown: I look forward to the consequences - 😼

The feeling of chaotic butterflies was inevitable after this.

Jake looked at me with fear and surprise in his eyes, "Princess, why do I feel like the game just changed?"

"Because it did."

Hello Wattpad Readers
This chapter I wrote because I felt really happy with how much the book has grown with viewers. It is also dedicated to two people who made my day. At the end of the day it felt so amazing to have a parent and child come up to me and tell me to keep writing because my book is amazing. Shoutout to these phenomenal people - you know who you are!
