"Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always."

"Kensi, are you sure you don't want Ethan here? Does he know you're leaving?" My mom asked me.
"I'm sure, yeah he knows, he was at the school," I lied through my teeth. My dad's an FBI agent, he knows I'm lying. But what she doesn't know won't hurt her and I'm not in the mood to tolerate or even look at Ethan.
My mother hugged me for a full minute... I hate hugs. My father then gave me a ten second hug, better than my mother.
My flight was called and I gave them one last bone crushing hug, but before I left my father quickly had a chat with me while my mother went to fetch a coffee.
"Kensi, I know you lied to your mother," told you he knew.
"Dad-"
"It's fine, you think I don't know what's going on. I have eyes and ears everywhere. I know you and Ethan had a falling out and Parker is making a constant appearance in your life now. But running away from your problems are just going to make them worse. Besides, my daughter is a fighter, you can whip their ass. Who cares about these stupid people in high school, you're never going to see them again when you leave. I understand if you need to go to Australia to sort some things out and think or get advice. Just be safe kiddo, I love you," he told me.
I was so stunned I didn't know tears were streaming down my face. My father never was the mushy type, he fell into the tough love category. I replied, "I will dad, thank you for noticing. I love you too."
I hugged him tightly and he did too. They announced for my flight again and I let go.
"Bye kiddo."
"Bye dad."
And for the first time, when I said I love you, I meant it.

/|\I got off the plane and looked for someone holding a sign with my name on it. After searching through a crowd of people I saw Gregory with the sign. I walked up to him and smiled, "Hey Uncle Greg," I greeted.
"Hey kiddo!" He greeted, and slung his arm around me pulling me in for a side hug.
"How have you been?" He asked.
"Honestly, I've been better," I sighed.
As we were walking to his car he told me the plan, "Okay, so your dad has a car rented for you. It's parked at Melissa's house. Tutoring will be starting on Monday at nine and here's the keys," he handed me the car keys and Melissa's house key, "The other one is Melissa's house key and she's not at home. She apologizes for not being there but said to make yourself at home while she's busy with a patient. She'll return at seven," it was three now.

/|\After having a meal at McDonald's with Uncle Greg he dropped me off at Melissa's house and helped me unload. After all my bags were out we entered the house and he bid me goodbye. I was humming a song and examining the house after discovering my room and putting my luggage there. It was a one story house and it had wooden floors which was amazing. I was walking to the kitchen when I heard footsteps. Robber?
I grabbed the first thing I saw and threw it at the unknown person. "Ow! What the hell?!" It was a male voice.
They appeared from the passage and I blushed furiously, it was a boy," Who are you?" We asked at the same time.
"Uh, I'm Kensi. I'm staying with Dr Reynolds for a while," I explained.
"Lucas. Dr Reynolds son," he smiled at me. Dr Reynolds has a son?
"And, um, sorry about throwing an orange at you Lucas," I muttered. I noticed he didn't have an Australian accent, but an American.
"It's chilled," he chuckled. I looked up and scanned him. He had dark brown hair with tinges of light brown, I couldn't make out his eye colour. He was wearing black jeans, a navy t-shirt and sneakers.
"You have an American accent?" I asked.
"Well I do live in America," he chuckled.
"Oh? Me too," I told him.
And that's how we started chatting.
