- A Few Days Later -

The funeral for James and Lily was the day before the full moon. Sirius wanted to wait, but Remus knew that they had to do it sooner rather than later. They had already waited a bit too long. Remus was adamant that they continue with the plan, no matter how many times Sirius tried to convince him otherwise. Sirius was grumbling as he got Harry dressed and ready to go.

"Your uncle Moony just doesn't want to listen, Harry. He knows he's not well enough to go today." Sirius bit his lip as he checked Harry's outfit over before picking him up and walking across the hallway to check in on Remus.

Remus was lying in their bed, fully dressed and ready to go, but he was pale and there was sweat across his forehead. Harry cooed softly in Sirius's arms causing Remus to open his eyes.

"Are you two ready to go?" His voice was strained causing Sirius to grimace.

"Yeah, did we leave Harry's bag downstairs?"

"I think so. We can double check when we get down there. Did you feed Harry his breakfast?"

Sirius nodded as he held out a hand to Remus to help him up. He kept himself quiet as he stayed close to a swaying Remus. He wasn't entirely sure how they were going to make it down the stairs, not with Harry in his arms and Remus looking as if he would keel over from the pain any second.

"Maybe you should wait here, let me take Harry down, and then come back up and help you down."

Remus rolled his eyes before he clinched them shut in pain. He nodded and allowed himself to slide down the wall onto the floor. Sirius moved down the stairs as quickly as possible without dropping Harry. He placed his Godson in the play pen before noticing Harry's bag sitting on the coffee table.

"Thank Merlin. . ." He made sure that Harry was content before going back to Remus, who seemed to be asleep.

"Moons. . ."

"Just help me up, Sirius for fucks sake." Remus was grumbling as his boyfriend lifted an arm around his shoulders and stood him up. Sirius kept quiet. He bit his tongue for the sake of not starting an argument for James and Lily. It took everything he had to stamp down that slight rush of anger, but he also did it because he knew that Remus wasn't himself. He's seen the man leaning against him at some of his worst moments. He knew that right now, he needed to just leave things be.

Halfway down the steps Remus lost his footing causing them both to nearly take a tumble. Luckily for Sirius the alarm they had connected to the floo network rang out through the flat. They made it to the bottom of the stairs to find Andromeda waiting for them with Harry in her arms.

"Glad you could make it 'Dromeda. I don't know how we would have made this work."

"Nonsense, I'm glad you owled me. Hello Remus, you look like hell."

"Hullo Andromeda, I feel like hell." Remus tried to offer her a small smile, but it was pained. Andromeda placed Harry back down before pulling a small bottle from her pocket.

"Here Remus, take this. It'll help with the pain."

"Are you sure 'Drom? He might just burn it off before it helps him."

"It'll be strong enough, but it may take a few minutes to work." Sirius nodded as Remus took the potion and downed it.

"Would you be willing to get me that recipe? I can never get it right."

"Of course, but let's just get through today. Why don't you two floo over first? I'll be right behind you with Harry."

"Can you toss the powder in?"
