Bellamys POV
It had been weeks since summer break started, and yet there was no sign of Clarke. Usually I would see her reading at the park when I was at football practice, or getting books at the store. But she had disappeared.

Then two months went by and still Clarke was nowhere to be found. I started to worry, who was I going to make fun of now?

In all seriousness, I was actually worried about her. I knew I was too hard on her but I couldn't help it.

I didn't make fun of Clarke because she was ugly. In fact, she was one of the most beautiful girls I had ever seen.

Her blue eyes glistened in the sunlight and her blond wavy hair flowed down her back like a waterfall. I only made fun of her because she didn't know how to stand up for herself.

Clarkes POV
When the lady was finally done with my hair she spun me around to face the mirror. The tips had been dyed purple and my hair had been cut shorter. "Thank you so much, I love it." I told her smiling and handed her my credit card.

After I paid the lady I said goodbye to her and started running around the block. I didn't want to go home right now, or ever really. But eventually after running two miles, I decided I had to home.

I quietly opened the front door and thankfully my dad was passed out drunk on the couch so I tiptoed to my room.

I was so tired from running that as soon as my head hit my pillow I passed out.

The next morning I decided to take extra shifts at the cafe I worked at so I could pay to start taking boxing lessons.

I know I would probably never be able to stop my dad from hitting me but at least this way I could stop Octavia when senior year started.

After two weeks I finally got enough cash to start boxing lessons, and I loved it. I always pretended the punching bag was my mom. She left my dad for another man three years ago and started a new life, without me.

I honestly didn't even know who I hated more. Of course, I hated my dad  but he was just a pathetic drunk.

When my mom left she knew about his drinking problem, but still she just walked out my life and never looked back. She had only called me four times since she left, and I always dreaded those phone calls.

I also started going to the gym to get my body in shape. I knew that right now I couldn't protect myself from my dad but I would keep training until I could.

I wish I could tell someone that my dad was beating me, but he said he would kill me if I told anyone and I honestly believed that.

He always kept a gun locked in his nightstand drawer. I tried looking for the keys when he was sleeping but I could never find them.

I had begun to get a lot of extra money from all the tips I'd been getting from the cafe lately, and the first day of school was tomorrow. So I decided to go to shopping to get new clothes.

I was going to make sure everyone knew I wasn't the girl I use to be.

I went to Sephora first. I had no clue about makeup so I just grabbed everything in sight. Then I bought a bunch of clothes and headed back home.

To my surprise my dad was up, he grabbed my bags and threw them against the wall. Then he punched me in the jaw.

He never had a reason to beat me, he just did. I think he wanted to take out all the angry he had against mom on me.

After punch after punch, I couldn't take it anymore. I ducked his punch and grabbed his empty beer bottle from the counter and hit his head, causing him to pass out and fall on the ground. Then I grabbed my bags, ran up to my room, locked the door and hoped for a better tomorrow.
