sunlight seeped through akaashi's curtains. it was a nice sunday morning. families were out spending quality time with each other, and despite fall coming to a close soon, the weather was still lovely out. anyone would've thought it was a pleasant day to enjoy life. except akaashi.

who upon waking up to sunlight blinding him, checked the time and realized it was 7:48am.

'ew, why did i wake up so early,' akaashi thought and then proceeded to try and fall asleep.

however it proved to be pointless as all he was able to accomplish was roll around in bed and hate his body for making him wake up so early. he sighed and sat up and grabbed his phone off his bedside table.

upon unlocking his phone, he immediately saw all the unread messages he had. most of them were from the group chat that kuroo made a while back between the four boys. most of the messages had been from pre-fall dance time as akaashi wasn't very good at checking notifications and messaging back.

akaashi wished he didn't open his messages though as they brought back the memories of yesterdays pitiful fall dance.

one of his messages was from kuroo saying, "next time you feel sick don't be afraid to ask me to take you home!!!!"

another was from kenma that just read, "don't beat yourself up akaashi."

akaashi then clicked on the message from bokuto. it just read, "kenma told me you went home early from the dance because you were sick :(💔 get better soon akaashi! 💗💝💕💖💞💘💓💝💕💖."

bokuto also sent a second message, the second one being sent three hours after the other. "come over to my house when you're feeling better so we can hang out!"

'should i go over to bokuto's house? i'll probably make a blubbering fool of myself as i still can't speak a proper sentence to him without making the atmosphere feel awkward.'

and then akaashi just thought, "fuck it," and texted bokuto that he'd be at his house at 11. akaashi didn't know what drove him to say he'd go over to bokuto's house, but akaashi just blamed it on the 7am delirious. akaashi would've went over sooner so he didn't have any time to rethink his decision, but he knew bokuto wouldn't be up until at least 10am.

akaashi had no idea what he was going to do for the next 4 hours while he waited for bokuto to wake up. sleeping wasn't an option since his body wouldn't allow him. so he did his morning routine and got dressed.

he poured himself a bowl of cereal, sat down on the couch, and turned on the tv. after scrolling through the channels he left the tv to play spongebob. because only quality content will be played in the akaashi household.

when it hit 11am, akaashi got up, put his bowl in the sink and put his shoes on. he walked across the street and stood on the front doorstep of bokuto's house.

he thought for a minute or two, before deciding to suck it up and knocked on the door. bokuto opened the door with his hair wet. presumably from just taking a shower.

"hi akaashi!"

"hi bokuto-san," akaashi said visibly gulping.

akaashi stepped into bokuto's house taking off his shoes. both of bokuto's parents greeted them as they were having an early lunch at the table. then bokuto dragged akaashi up to his room.

"how are you feeling akaashi? feeling ok?"

"huh, why wouldn't i be ok?" akaashi asked nervously thinking that bokuto sensed the awkwardness around him.

"cause you went home sick from the dance the other day."

akaashi coughed, "oh right. yeah i'm feeling better today, thanks for asking."

bokuto went on to talk about something entirely random-like normal. akaashi wasn't really paying attention since he was trying his hardest to look natural.

"-and that's why me and kuroo are banned from all wendy's everywhere."

that's what akaashi heard when he was snapped out of his thoughts.

"what the fu-...never mind."

"oH! i want to tell you something important," bokuto said his smile growing.

akaashi hummed out a "go ahead."

"okay! so i asked yukie out on a date for later today...and i want to ask her to officially be my girlfriend!"

akaashi felt his stomach plummet.

"oh...that's great!" akaashi said with fake happiness etched everywhere on him: to the fake smile, the fake excited-ness of tone to his voice, the way he was clenching his hands into fists so hard his nails dug into the palm of his hand.

"so what should i do? i want to make the night perfect for yukie!"

"you should bring her flowers. and doesn't she like that one brand of gummy candy?" akaashi said absemtmindedly.

"akaashi! you're a genius! i already have the night planned out. im going to take her to that new italian place that opened recently, and then to the park so we could stargaze. all i need to do now is find what to wear."

"oh i'll pick an outfit out for you," akaashi said quickly wanting to get out of bokuto's view.

"thanks akaashi! what would i do without you?" bokuto asked flashing a smile towards akaashi's way.

luckily for akaashi, bokuto's closet was a huge walk-in closet so akaashi wouldn't be seen by bokuto when he went in. before he entered the closet, he did a quick peek at bokuto, only to see he was on his phone. once akaashi was fully out of eye-sight from bokuto, akaashi could feel hot tears start to form and his throat tighten.

when akaashi felt tears start to slip out of his eyes, he quickly swiped them away; wanting to stop the tear flow before it could get worse.

after a few seconds and multiple deep breaths, he managed to steady his breathing. he looked around bokuto's closet before picking a nice outfit out.

surprisingly, akaashi has impeccable outfit choices. he figured it was from all the years his mom made him watch project runway with her, though he secretly still watches it.

he stayed in the closet for a few more minutes until he figured his eyes weren't red and his throat wouldn't be scratchy. then he walked out and laid the clothes onto bokuto's desk neatly. bokuto got up to the bed and walked over to the desk to inspect the clothes.

"thanks akaashi! they're perfect!"

"you're welcome. im gonna head home now, i have lots of homework to do so i want to get an early start on it," akaashi said.

which were lies as akaashi finished all of it during his free periods at school during the week.

"okay, see you later! i'll message you later and tell you how the date goes!"

akaashi just waved and went downstairs. both of bokuto's parents had left for work so akaashi quickly slipped on his shoes and headed out the door. the weather was incredibly nice, probably being in the 80 degrees (fahrenheit) range.

yet akaashi felt so cold.
