"keiji, hurry up so i can take pictures!"

"okay okay! im going!" akaashi called back.

he and kenma were currently in akaashi's room getting ready for the fall dance. akaashi just wore a plain black and white fitted suit, which made him look like royalty. kenma was also wearing a black and white suit, but he was wearing a tie that kuroo picked out for him. the tie was just a solid dark red which kuroo said, "brought out his eyes."

the two finished getting ready, and headed down the stairs. as soon as the two were in eyesight of the mom squad™️ cameras started flashing, causing both kenma and akaashi to physically wince.

"oh, you two look so handsome!" kuroo's mom said.

the other moms continued to snap pictures as their ways of saying they agree.

kuroo and bokuto were already in the living room as they got dressed quicker then akaashi and kenma. though akaashi and kenma also took 10 minutes contemplating between themselves wether they should jump out the window to avoid going to the dance. though they found the plan to be futile as akaashi's room was too high off the ground to fall from.

"thanks mrs. kuroo," kenma said.

"oh keiji you look amazing!" akaashi's mom said.

"keiji why didn't you want to go to the dance with someone? anyone would be glad to go with such a handsome boy like you!" bokuto's mom said.

'because mrs. bokuto, i wanted to go with your son, but he doesn't seem to like me in the way i like him.'

after some thinking and spending more time around bokuto, akaashi realized he liked him more than a friend should. at first it was only slightly, but as the days passed he fell harder and harder. he wished he would stop.

"since im part of the committee i would constantly be helping the teachers to watch over the dance. so i wouldn't be able to spend a lot of time with however i asked out," akaashi said.

which was bullshit as there were plenty of teachers/staff over-watching the dance that they didn't need as much student helpers as they originally thought. but no one needed to know that.

"how thoughtful! koutarou why aren't you as nice as akaashi!" bokuto's mom said in a joking manner.

the 5 minutes that kenma and akaashi have been down the stairs bokuto had not once looked or noticed akaashi. he was too busy talking with yukie (who he did end up asking out to the dance).

however, upon hearing his mother's voice he turned around, finally noticing akaashi in the process. akaashi was expecting bokuto to say something to him, anything would've been nice. but no, he just stared at akaashi, which made akaashi feel awkward and self-conscious.

did his suit look ill-fitting on him? but kenma said it looked nice on him, and kenma wasn't one to sugarcoat things. was there something on his face? did his hair look bad? he didn't do anything different with his hair, which got him thinking, 'does my hair just always look bad and the suit just makes it look worse? oh god i feel like i'm gonna thRow uP-'

"you look good as always akaashi," kuroo said snapping akaashi out of his self-depricating thoughts.

"oh thanks, i don't really think so, but it's nice to be reassured," akaashi said giving a tight-lipped smile.

"picture time!" kenma's mom yelled.

"do we have to mom?" kenma said with distaste.
