akaashi sighed and chucked his phone onto his bed, which landed with a slight spring and a thump noise.
'now what am i going to do? am i seriously just going to ignore my feelings until we go our separate ways?' akaashi thought.
akaashi looked at his situation from every possible angle he could think of. he could tell bokuto about his feelings, but what was the cost? ruining a perfectly good friendship? breaking up bokuto and yukie when they both liked each other? akaashi couldn't do that.
because at the end of the day, bokuto was akaashi's best friend. and bokuto being akaashi's best friend meant that akaashi will support him in whatever way, shape, or form he has too. even if it means subduing buried feelings.
a few hours passed. akaashi tried everything to calm himself. he took a shower, tried reading books and watching movies, but nothing worked.
akaashi paced around his room trying to think of what to do. that was until he heard a slight knock on his bedroom door. confused as to who it could be, he opened his door to reveal his mom.
he was surprised that she was home as normally she didn't come home until 6pm on sunday's. must be she came home early and akaashi didn't hear her because he was too busy trying not to scream. but he was more surprised at the look on her face. she looked nervous which made akaashi nervous.
"hi keiji."
"hi? what are you doing home so early?"
"what? can i not come home early to see my favorite son?"
"mom, im you're only son."
"and therefore my favorite!"
"what do you want to tell me?"
"um... i don't know how to tell you..." his mom said trailing off.
at this point akaashi was slightly terrified of what she had to say. everything today had not gone his way, so something worse wouldn't seem out of the ordinary.
"actually, i'll just show you."
akaashi followed his mom down the stairs and into the kitchen. at the dining room table sat a guy, probably in his early to early-mid 40's. he was handsomely dressed, which contained a nice button-down white shirt and black tie, dress pants, and shoes. his hair was light brown and so were his eyes. he also had the same nervous expression his mom wore.
"akaashi, i'd like you to meet my um...boyfriend--ono yuta. now before you say anythin-"
before she even finished akaashi broke out in laughter. the faces on his mom and this yuuta person went from nervous to confused and suprised.
"why are you laughing?" akaashi's mom asked.
"because you both looked so nervous. i thought maybe something really serious was happening!"
"oh i'm sorry. i didn't realize i looked so nervous," his mom muttered.
"so, i was wondering if you would like to have dinner with yuta and i so you can get to know him better?" his mom asked cautiously, still not knowing how her son felt about the situation.
"that sounds nice," akaashi said slightly smiling.
his mom smiled back a smile he hadn't been able to see in a long time. it was smile that made her seem young again. like the carefree women she should have been her entire life, not a serious business lady who worked endless hours so that herself and her son could live comfortably.
his mom quickly ran to the oven and grabbed out a lasagna and placed it on the table. akaashi sat down on the one side of the table while his mom and her boyfriend sat on the other. it was refreshing to akaashi to see someone else at the table besides just him and his mom.
akaashi soon found that he liked yuta as he was nice and obviously liked his mom as much as his mom seemed to like him. conversation--at first--was awkward, but after a few icebreaker sentences, the two males got to know each other.
akaashi soon came to find out that akaashi's mom and yuta worked at the same company, and had only recently found out about each other. yuta had married before, but divorced never having kids of his own. they went on a couple of dates, soon finding out they had a lot in common and enjoyed each other's presence. yuta had asked his mom out the day before.
akaashi was glad his mom had found someone as in the past she didn't want to find anyone else ever since akaashi's dad had passed. he knew his mom was happy and that was all that mattered to him.
after the lasagna, his mom and yuta were going to watch a movie. they asked akaashi if he wanted to watch with them, but akaashi declined and said he was going to bed as it was around 9:30pm. he kissed his mom on the cheek goodnight and said a bye to yuta and went upstairs into his room and shut his door.
he grabbed his phone off the nightstand and looked at it. bokuto had sent him a message 30 minutes ago.

bokuto-san:
ahh akaashi!! yukie said
yes to being my girlfriend!
i'm so happy! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧you:
i'm happy for you
bokuto-san!-
he plopped onto his bed and stared at the ceiling. he didn't realize he was crying until a tear rolled down his cheek. he thought he already did all his crying, but apparently not. he shouldn't be crying, it wasn't news to him that yukie was going to say yes; that her and bokuto would eventually become a thing.
hot tears rolled down his cheeks with stifled sobs as the background music.
he didn't like that he was crying because there wasn't a necessary reason to do it. crying wouldn't solve anything, but yet the tears kept flowing. it was like a dam broke, releasing all the water to come rushing through.
his eyes were sore and puffy, and his mouth felt dry. drowsiness soon took over him, and he fell asleep.

bit of advice: if you're ever sad let yourself cry. trust me, you're going to feel better. maybe not totally alright, but it's relaxing to let everything out once in a while. also, never downplay your sadness. if you feel sad, don't think it's not worth to cry about, or it's something too idiotic to cry about. if you're sad, cry. it's not weak to cry, it's a basic human thing.
