Erin's POV

I followed the rest of my year into the Great Hall and spotted my friends sitting together at the Slytherin table; Suzanne, Tristan, Rosanna, Tyler, Becka and Casey.

I walked over and joined them.
'Ezza!' Becka squealed, hugging me.

'Hey Becks!' I laughed, hugging her back.

'How was your summer?' Casey asked.

'Quiet.' I shrugged. 'Yours?'

'Went to France with my family.' He told me. 'It was cool. Saw a few Veela.'

'Veela?' Tyler raised his eyebrows. 'Cool.'

Rosanna rolled her eyes and mouthed, typical to me. I grinned.

We suddenly saw the new first years filing into the Great Hall, Professor McGonagall leading them. 'Ooh, here we go.'

'I remember standing up there.' Tristan said fondly. 'They all look terrified.'

I chuckled. 'So did you, Tristan.'

'I'm surprised you remember.' He smirked. 'With your tiny brain.'

'Ssh!' Becka shushed us, watching the sorting.

Everytime someone got sorted into Slytherin, we all cheered.
We were just that random.

'Malfoy, Draco!'

'SLYTHERIN!'

We all cheered.

'Malfoy? Aren't his family, like super rich?' Tyler said.

'Yeah, I've heard of them.' Rose nodded. 'Huge manor house and everything.'

I'd already heard of Draco Malfoy. His father and my father were friends and worked together.

Draco walked over to the Slytherin table and sat parallel to us.
Tristan held out his hand for a hi-five. Draco grinned and hi-fived him.
'Welcome to Slytherin.' Tristan said. 'I'm Tristan, and this is Rosanna, Tyler, Becka, Casey and Erin.'

Draco nodded to each of us. 'Nice to meet you all.'

'Potter, Harry!'

We all suddenly turned to the front, our attention diverted.
'Did she just Harry Potter?' Becka whispered.

'The boy who survived You Know Who's killing curse? I think she did.' Tristan said.

We all watched as a scrawny boy with untidy black hair and glasses stumbled to the stool and McGonagall placed the hat on his head.
After a while, the hat shouted 'Gryffindor!!'

We all rolled our eyes as he went over to the Gryffindor table.
'Of course, The Boy Who Lived, obviously a Gryffindor.' Casey said scathingly. 'He doesn't look special at all.'

We all agreed with him. I decided to steer clear of this boy. He was obviously going to be a huge enemy among the Slytherin's.

We all cheered as the last person, Blaise Zabini was sorted into Slytherin and soon enough the feast started.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning, I left the Slytherin common room, and as I headed upstairs to breakfast, I nearly walked into Lee Jordan.
'Erin!' He said in surprise. 'Hi.'

'Hi.' I replied. I could be at least civil, I supposed.

'Listen, I was wondering if we could be friends?' He asked.

I sighed. How was I supposed to tell him this without offending him?
'Lee... I'm sorry, but not really.' I told him. 'I'm a Slytherin.. you're a Gryffindor. We can't ever be friends. Sorry.' With that, I walked past him, to the Great Hall. I saw his face fall as I passed him though, and I felt slightly guilty. But I wasn't going to mix with the Gryffindors. Not a good idea.
