After dinner, Lee joined me for a short walk in the grounds while it was still light outside.
'So what, you've never been to a Quidditch tournament?' He asked.
'Not really no. My mum's not big on Quidditch, and my dad was too busy to take me when I was younger.' I told him, shrugging.
'Hey, why don't you try out for Quidditch here?' He suddenly suggested. 'You were good in our first flying lessons in our first year.'
'I don't know, I never really thought about it.' I said. 'I suppose I'm okay... I'd have to ask someone to train me up a bit.'
'Tell you what, you join the Quidditch team, and when I do commentary, I'll be cheering you on.' He grinned.
'It's a deal,' I replied, laughing.
'Erm, guys?'
We both turned. Fred and George were standing not far from us, both of them wearing what looked to be guilty expressions.
'Oh, hey guys.' Lee said casually. 'You alright?'
'Yeah, we... came to speak to Erin.' Fred or George said.
'George, she's not-' Lee started, but I interrupted him.
'No, Lee, it's fine. Let them talk.' I said. This ought to be interesting.
'Look, we're sorry for what we said on the train.' Fred said. 'We misjudged you Erin, just because you're a Slytherin. We can tell you're not like the others and we shouldn't have judged you on what house you ended up in.'
'Thanks guys.' I said. 'And don't worry about it, I've forgotten about it already.'
'Is it alright if we join you two?' George asked.
'Yeah, absolutely.' Lee beamed, glad that his two best friends were finally being nice to me. 'Me and Ezza were just talking about Quidditch.'
'Oh? Were you thinking about joining the Slytherin team?' Fred asked in interest.
'Yeah, maybe.' I nodded, half shrugging.
'Prepare to be thwarted then.' George smirked.
'Oh? Is that a challenge?' I raised an eyebrow, smirking too.
'Yes, definitely.' Fred chuckled. 'Hey, Lee, how much do you want to bet on who wins?'
'If that's the case, I'm betting on Erin.' Lee laughed.
'Not fair! We're your best friends!' Fred complained jokingly.
'So is Erin.' Lee shrugged, grinning.
I thought that they'd be annoyed at Lee's comment, but they laughed and we laughed with them. It felt nice that I was finally being accepted from the Gryffindors, even if it was just a few of them. We all had a chat and a laugh, before heading back inside, and Lee, Fred and George bade me goodnight before heading up to Gryffindor tower, while I headed for the Slytherin quarters. Maybe I'd write to mum; tell her about my new friends. I decided not to specify what house they were in; I wasn't sure how she'd react.
