Confused

'What happened?' Draco asked, striding into the lounge area.

'I refused to do the killing curse.' I said dully. 'It took me long enough to do the Cruciatus curse properly.'

'Oh, Erin!' He groaned.

Lucius came striding in with Bellatrix and Narcissa. 'You refused to do what Bellatrix said?' Lucius asked softly.

'I wasn't going to kill the dragon.' I shook my head. 'I couldn't.'

'And why not?'

'Because it was just acting of it's nature. It was probably scared.'

'But you were asked specifically to obey our demands when training and perform your training to the best of your ability, and here you are, disobeying us.' He crossed his arms.

'It wasn't her fault, she's never killed anyone or anything before-' Draco defended but his father silenced him with a look.

'Since you have disobeyed us, I have no choice but to punish you for it.' Lucius continued. 'Crucio.'

I instantly crumpled to the floor, screaming in pain. I gritted my teeth against the onslaught, praying for it to be over soon.

Eventually, it stopped. I slumped on the floor, sobbing.

'Draco, take her to her room please.' Narcissa said distantly.

I didn't move; I heard footsteps approaching me, and Draco picking me up bridal style. He carried me upstairs to my room and gently set me on my bed. I eventually opened my eyes when the pain had mostly faded away. Draco was sat on the couch. His face was whiter than normal. 'I'm so sorry that happened Erin. I tried to defend you.'

'It's okay.' I whispered. 'I know you did.'

There was a quiet knock on the door. I didn't bother turning my head to see who it was. 'Draco, can you excuse us?' Bellatrix's voice sounded.

I slowly sat up, wiping my eyes and trying to appear unbothered.

'I'll be in the next room if you need me, Erin.' Draco told me. I nodded. He left, closing the door ajar.

Bellatrix walked over, and sat next to me on the bed.

'What?' I said, refusing to look at her.

'Sorry I told Lucius. I had no choice. The Dark Lord wouldn't have gone so easy on you.' She said.

'Oh, well that's alright then.' I said sarcastically.

'I didn't like seeing you hurt, little Death Eater.' She took a strand of my dark auburn hair, playing with it.

'Oh please.' I scoffed.

She studied me silently with her dark intense eyes. I looked up.

There was a palpable shift in the atmosphere. She put a hand underneath my chin, inclining my face towards hers. I stopped breathing.

Before I could react or say anything, she pressed her soft lips against mine.

I gave in to the sensation of the kiss. It was really nice, and gentle, weirdly.

Eventually she pulled away.

There was something different in her eyes. Or maybe I was imagining it.

'I'll leave you to get some rest, little Death Eater.' She smirked, getting up and leaving, closing the door behind her.

What in Merlin's name just happened?

I frowned. Earlier during training, she'd been so demanding and cruel. But just now she'd been so gentle and kind of apologetic.

And then she kissed me.

She'd left me feeling really confused.
