Hogsmeade

Finally. The weekend. It had been a seriously tough week.
Tristan, Tyler, Rosanna, and Becka had planned to go to Hogsmeade so I agreed; I could do with a few hours out of school.
My mum hadn't written to me in a while. I could understand that she was busy, but I was her only daughter, c'mon! She surely had time to write a letter?
Unfortunately, Tristan had noticed at breakfast when the owls came.
'Nothing from your dad?' He asked. I'd given the group the same story about my dad that I'd given the Weasleys.

'No. I expect he's probably too busy.' I lied.

He gave me a sideways look. 'I don't want to seem intrusive Erin... But you never really talk about your dad. You talk about your mum quite a lot but not your dad.'

I hoped my face wasn't giving anything away. 'Ermm... He and my mum have a bad history.' I said awkwardly. 'I never really see him much because of it.'

'Oh. Sorry. I didn't mean to pry.' He smiled.

'It's fine.' I said quickly.

'I guess it's hard when your parents don't get along.'

'Yeah.' I forced a smile.

Luckily he let the subject drop after that.

After breakfast, we quickly got ready and headed out to Hogsmeade.

'So, where to first?' Rosanna asked.

'The Three Broomsticks.' I said immediately. 'I just want to chill out right now.'

'Oh. I wanted to go Honeydukes first.' Tyler disagreed. 'Apparently they've got a new range of sugar quills in.'

'We can check them out after?' Rose suggested.

'No, I agree with Ezza, the Three Broomsticks.' Becka sided with me.
She winked at me and I grinned at her.

'To be fair, I fancy a butterbeer right now.' Tristan piped up.

'Sorry Tyler, outvoted.' Becka shrugged.

He laughed. 'Fine. Honeydukes after.'

'Sounds like a plan.' I nodded.

We headed into the warm pub first then and Tristan went to get the drinks while we found a secluded table. Rosanna and Tyler sat opposite me and Becka took a seat to my right.
'I've been hearing rumours.' Rosanna frowned.

'What do you mean?' I asked.

'About these attacks. Apparently if they carry on, the school could close.'

'Seriously?' I raised an eyebrow. 'Bit extreme, isn't it? I mean, no one's actually died yet.'

'I hope they do close.' Tristan said, returning with the butterbeers. 'I can't stand another minute at that pathetic excuse of a school. Seriously, what were they thinking, letting mudbloods and blood traitors in, in the first place?'

'Outrageous.' Tyler nodded. 'They deserve getting attacked.'

'Erin?' Becka nudged me. 'What do you think?'

I sipped my drink. 'I totally agree. The school should close. The headmasters useless and mad, defense against the dark arts is total rubbish and the mudbloods are making the place look untidy.'

Tristan nearly choked on his drink.

'Couldn't have said it better myself, babe.' Becka laughed.

I smirked. 'Just saying what everyone else was thinking.'

'You're not wrong there, Ezza.' Tyler nodded, grinning.

'That's the thing about being blunt and honest. You don't have nearly as much to keep track of.' Rosanna added.

My heart rate increased at her words. Did she know something-?

'What?' Rosanna gave me a weird look. I realised I'd been staring at her.

'Oh. Nothing.' I murmured. 'Zoned out there. I'm gonna get another butterbeer.'

'I'll join you.' Becka stood up as well.

I ordered two more butterbeers and sat on a bar stool.
'Are you okay, Ezza?' Becka asked. 'You  seemed a bit quiet back there.'

'Hmm? Fine, thanks. Just got a lot on my mind.' I shrugged casually.

'You don't have to tell me, but is it to do with your dad?' she said sympathetically. 'Only I heard your conversation with Tristan at breakfast.'

'Eh, I'll be fine. He's just busy, he'll write to me when he can.' I said.

'Well, I'm here to talk, if you ever need to.' She put a comforting hand on my arm.
That's one of things I liked about Becka. She was genuinely nice and didn't just pretend to care.

'Thank you, I appreciate that.' I smiled. 'Same goes for you.'

I paid for our drinks and we headed back towards our table.

We soon left the three broomsticks, heading in the direction of Honeydukes. Rosanna hadn't acted any differently towards me at all, so I dismissed it that she was just contributing to the conversation. I was just being stupid and paranoid.

'Impedimenta!'

Just as we heard that, I suddenly tripped over something invisible, sending me sprawling at my feet.

Laughter.

I looked up. A group of Gryffindors were just a few feet in front of us, creasing up laughing and pointing at us. The boy in front still had his wand raised.

My vision turned red.
'Erin-?' Tristan helped me up.

'Damn mudbloods.' I snarled. I whipped my own wand out. They all stopped laughing instantly. I didn't care. I'd lost my patience with them all.
'Stupefy!' I yelled.

The boy instantly flew back, hitting the ground. His friends rushed to his aid.

'Whoa, Ezza.' Tyler raised his eyebrows. 'Remind me to never cross you again.'

'I know, that's the most vicious I've ever seen you!' Rosanna laughed.

'That was great.' Becka grinned.

'Yeah, well. They were starting to piss me off.' I shrugged, pocketing my wand.

Of course, I knew there was going to be consequences for my actions and that was proved when we returned to the school and McGonagall gave us detention and took points from Slytherin. It was definitely worth it though. I was really starting to hate the Gryffindors.
