song for chapter: breathe by lauv
{ you're my all and more, but I need room to breathe }

THURSDAY
[ ALLISON'S POV ]

The force from my hands flung my backpack over my shoulder while I walked to the front door.

"You okay? You seem a little down today." Taylor's voice stopped from from closing the door.

No.

I peaked my head back inside to look at her, "yeah, I'm okay." I shrugged sending her a simple smile.

I'm not.

She stood up straight crossing her arms. Her eyes examined me.

"What?" I questioned being confused from her actions.

She let out a sigh as she walked to me, took my hand, and led me back to her bed.

I already knew what she was going to say-my heart was starting to beat quickly.

She sat the both of us down on the edge of her bed while both of her hands held onto mine.

Her eyes lifted from our hands to my eyes, "it's okay to not be okay. I know it's hard for you to admit, but I've noticed how different you've been."

My lips rubbed together in guilt. She's my best friend, of course she can read me like a book.

"A lot has happened to you recently, I know you're not in a good state." Her thumb rubbed over my hand.

"I'm holding it together." I explained to her. "I'll be fine, Tay." I sweetly told her.

I let go of her hands and stood back up. My feet starting walking to the door when her voice stopped me.

"You never open up to me anymore." She mumbled.

I turned on my heel to look at her, "you know I love you right?" My eyes sternly looked at her.

She nodded while letting out a breath of air, "I know. I just hate seeing you suffer and deny it."

"I'm not suffering. I'm just getting a bad taste of life right now." I shrugged knowing that was only half true. I just don't want to worry her.

"Im just so scared that you'll try to do something to yourself again." A tear slipped from her eye while she pulled me into a tight hug.

I was taken back by what she said.

I guess it hit me harder at the fact she was crying; she never cries.

"Look, life sucks, but I'm happy I didn't jump. I couldn't put you, Grayson, Jeff and Ethan through that." I assured her.

She nodded lightly while letting go of me, "just please talk to me if you ever feel unsafe of your own thoughts, okay?" She directly told me to make sure I got the message.

"I will." I promised her.

She let out a breath to relieve her stress, "okay."

My feet started walking back towards the door, "I'll see you after class." I sent her a light smile before walking out the door.

My feet trotted down the stairs and out of the heavy silver door.

I walked one foot in front of the other on the concrete path that led me to class.

The sound of a couple of boys laughing caught me off guard; my head shooting up in the same direction.

It was the two boys that were with Mason. The ones that grabbed Taylor. The two boys that Grayson fought.
