"Kimbra, wake up."

I open my eyes to see little concrete pieces in the bed and more being thrown. "Please wake up." I turned in bed and looked at the person outside my cell. "Oh thank god! I though you passed out and that you had a concussion and that you wouldn't wake up and-" "I'm ok." I interrupted. I never thought Nova would be so overdramatic. I sat up and winced at the pain that emerged from my rib cage. "It hurts like hell, huh?" he asked.

Was it that obvious? I looked at him and he was touching his ribs too. "Yeah." I said letting out a small chuckle and walking over to the cell door. "I'm sorry.... for that." Nova said pointing at something on my face. "What is it?" I asked. "It's a big bruise on your cheek and there's blood all around it." he responded. I lifted my hand and touched my cheek, but flinched right when they made contact.

I looked at Novas face, it was pretty fucked up too. "Then I'm sorry for that." I said pointing at a huge cut on his cheek. "That's nothing." he said trying to hide it. "Hey, I'm sorry about what happened, I should've stayed quiet when you told me to.... its all my fault." I apologized. "It's ok." he said giving me a weak smile.

I felt like I knew him, but I don't know from where, other that he was or is a superhero in my city. Oh.... about that.

"Hey, can I ask you something?" I asked, leaning my head on the bars. "Sure." he said. "Aren't you supposed to be in New York right now? Like saving the day or something?" He turned pale as soon as I asked. "I can't say anything about that." he said quickly and started to make his way over to the exit. "Sorry!" I yelled. He looked back and walked over to me. "Sorry... I shouldn't have asked." I whispered looking down. I didn't want him to leave I felt sad and lonely when he was gone. "I have to resolve some problems here then I'll go back to the city." He said. I looked at him "May I ask another question?" I asked. "Go ahead." he said and got closer to my cell. "Can you take your helmet off?"

"Yeah, can you take it off ?" High E walked into the room and said sarcastically. Ohhh god! does he ever get enough? "Please don't." Nova begged. "What?" High E, said chuckling. I looked at him with hatred. He walked over to me "Nobody's getting hurt, I promise. I just want to see him take that helmet off." he said and turned to Nova.

Nova stood still and just looked at me. "I'll have to break the promise if you don't." High E turned to me and gave me an malicious smile. "I... I can't do it." Nova stuttered. "Why not?" High E asked.

"You know exactly why, I'm sorry." Nova apologized and looked down at the floor. Why wouldn't he do it? Was it because I knew he was from New York? Did he think I was going to reveal his secret identity? ... I wouldn't by the way.

"Well... I guess I'll just brake that promise." High Evolutionary confirmed and walked over to me. If I took another of his beatings, I swear I'll probably die in this place..... wherever it was. "No! No! I'll do it!" Nova yelled. High E stopped and turned on his heels. "Go, do it." he said.

"This is what you wanted, right? Revenge! Revenge for what I have done to you. well I'm just letting you know that you hit my weak spot.... Hard." Nova yelled from the top of his lungs and full with emotion. I just stood there confused at his words. Then he continued, "She's my weak spot and you knew it, when you took her, you knew it! Af...ter this ....she ...won't ...trust me." By know Nova was crying and his voice was breaking. I had no idea what he was talking about, but I couldn't stand seeing him like this.... so hurt.

"I'm sorry." he finally said. He then slowly lifted his hands up and placed them on his helmet. He dragged the helmet off his head, revealing his neck, the his black silky hair and finally his face.

Sam.

I stumbled back into my cell and placed my hands over my mouth. "Wh..what?" I softly mumbled. Hot tears ran down my cheeks as I looked at him. His hair stood up naturally, his face covered in dirt and dry blood and his bright green eyes burned into mine with regret and sorrow.

"I'm sorry Kim, I.. I rea-" he started but a loud evil laugh from High E interrupted him. For the first time I was actually glad he was here. I wanted to get beaten an inch from my life an forget everything, forget everybody. Forget Sam.

"I knew this would hurt you both more than anything! I'll leave you both here to talk about it." High E said and laughed as he left the room. We looked into each others eyes. He looked at me with remorse, but I stared at him with pure hatred.

"Kim... I'm sorry." he said. I shook my head and ran over to the cell door. "Don't you talk to me Sam!" I yelled as I pointed at him. "Listen, Kim-"

"No Sam! No! Do you know the hell I've been through! The hell WE'VE been through!"

"I didn't want you to get hurt Kim! He told me he would kill you!"

"Well I did get hurt! And death sounds like a pretty good option right now! I trusted you! I trusted Sam! I trusted Nova! Now... Now I don't know who you are." I made my way over to the back wall, rested my forehead on the cold concrete and closed my eyes tightly.

"Please forgive me Kim. Please." he insisted.

"Go Sam. Leave. I beg you. I don't want to talk to you ever again." I said emotionless. I heard his footsteps fade down the hallway and the sound of his body slumping down on a wall echoed through my cell.

How? How could I be so stupid? I trusted him. He says he's sorry but hardly shows he cares. He let me get beat and he didn't even bother using his powers. I don't know if I could trust him again.
