~•~ Kimbra's P.O.V. ~•~

"So he was there, choking you?" Ava asked as we both sat on my bedroom floor. I nodded and looked down at the cyan carpet. "Well Sam told me that you knocked on his door but walked away when he opened it." Ava said. "I couldn't have imagined it, Ava. I have the bruises to prove it." I said running a hand over my swollen neck.

"I know, I know. Look, how about we go back to S.H.I.E.L.D. and you talk about this with Sam, I'm pretty sure he'll understand. Plus he's dying to see you, he was devastated when you left." Ava said, standing up and offering a hand to help me up.

I sighed and took her hand. " I can't go back to Sam." I said, my heart aching as the words spilled out.  "What?! Why not?" Ava asked surprised at my words.

"I'm just a burden. If High Evolutionary keeps coming back Sam will just try keeping me safe, but something bad is bound to happen, I don't want either of us to suffer." I said.

"So you'll just push Sam away now?" She asked, crossing her arms. "Yes." I answered truthfully. Ava just sighed, "I have to go now. See you another day."

I walked her to the front door and waved goodbye. When she left I shut the door and slid down to the floor. I broke down, my quiet sobs echoing through the empty house.

Sam's P.O.V.

"She's a what?!" I yelled in frustration as Ava told me what Kim had said to her. "Sam calm down." Peter said trying to simmer me down. "No, I can't. I can't calm down because I love her and she's not a burden." I yelled pacing back and forth in the room.

"I want to hold her and never let go." I said sitting on the small couch, placing my head on my hands. "But you can't go to her, she doest want to see you." Luke said placing a hand on my shoulder. I looked up at him,  wiping a tear from my face, "but I can't live without her." I said, standing up grabbing my helmet and running outside.

"Sam, wait!" I heard my teammates yell after me. When I was outside the S.H.I.E.L.D. building I didn't hesitate to put on my helmet and blasted into the the sky, my destination, Kimbra's house.

When I arrived I took off my helmet and knocked on the door. There was no response so I knocked again.

I started to worry when she didn't answer. Ava told me she was home alone and that she didn't plan on leaving the house. I turned the door knob, which was unlocked, and slowly opened the door. "Kim?" I asked, my voice echoing around the house.

I walked in and entered the living room. There I saw the most heartbreaking scene in front of me. Kimbra was kneeling on the floor her arms covering her face as warm tears ran down her cheeks, trailing down her arms.

"Kim?" I asked getting closer to her. "Sam?" She asked not looking up. I  kneeled in front of her and wrapped my arms around her fragile body.

I was expecting to feel warmth but instead felt coldness against my skin, I tried holding her closer but next thing I knew I was hugging nothing but air.

"Are you looking for her?" A deep voice said. I turned and saw High Evolutionary throw an unconscious Kimbra to the ground.  I ran over to her but a force held me back, keeping me from ever reaching her.

"Leave her alone!" I yelled at him as I put my helmet on. "Oh Sam, I know you too well." He chuckled, getting closer to Kim. "Why would I let go of the one thing I can have fun with."  He picked up Kimbra from her hair.

"I see why you fell for her " he smirked and in a blue gaze disappeared along with Kimbra. I ran after them but the portal closed before I could even get to them.
