Prison Guard

••Chapter 16••

There was inaudible chatting around me as I regained consciousness. I opened my eyes slowly still seeing blurry. There were four figures around me, I still couldn't make out who they were.

"I'm being serious! I think Cap would beat Iron Man," one of them said.

I started to move my hand, in order to inform them I was awake. "Look at her hand." Someone said. " I'll call Sam." A female voice said.

Sam.

All of the previous events flashed through my mind as I remembered where I was. My eyes finally flung open and I took in my surroundings. Peter, Luke, and Danny were standing around my hospital bed. Ava came running into the room. Followed by the most worried Sam I've ever seen, stopping at the door.

Everyone moved out of his way as he approached me, never taking his eyes from mine. I sat up successfully, after wincing a few times. Sam helped me by placing a pillow on my back for support.

"You're back." I whispered and he smiled,  taking my hand. "I wouldn't leave you." He replied and kissed my forehead, instantly sending warmth through my body.

"What happened, why were you gone for so long?" I asked him, furrowing my eyebrows. "There was no way I could come back without them following me, I had to make sure you were safe, but they still found you." He said, looking down and lowering his voice at the last part.

I lifted his head by the chin, making him look me in the eyes. "But I'm ok, I'm alive and I'm happy that you're here with me." I said.

"I promise I won't leave again. I'll always protect you." He assured. We looked into each others eyes, just like the first time we kissed and I couldn't resist it no more. I placed my hand on his neck bringing him closer to me, his smile brushed my lips then he closed the gap between us. Sparks and butterflies erupted in my stomach, making me go crazy.

"Erm, we're still here, guys." Peter said awkwardly. I broke the kiss and we both started to blush. "Sorry." Sam said, rubbing the back of his neck.

A nurse walked in and dropped her clipboard when she saw I was awake. " I apologize," she said picking up her clipboard, "I'll call the doctor." She quickly left and as soon as she closed the door, everyone burst out laughing, including me.

It felt good to be around Sam and my best friends again.

When I was released from the hospital, Sam and I made our relationship official. We celebrated by getting some frozen yogurt with Ava and the guys and eating it at a local park.

Everything seemed so calm and relaxing. I no longer felt scared if High Evolutionary showed up because I was here with Sam and I was sure he wouldn't let anything happen to me.

"You know we're all getting in trouble once we get back to S.H.I.E.L.D." Peter said. "It was Luke, he broke the traning room floor. Danny said, shoving yogurt into his mouth. "We can just ask Fury for forgiveness." Luke casually mentioned.

"Its hard, believe me, I've tried." Peter said. Everyone seemed sad, and nobody was eating their yogurt and I knew this was partially my fault. "I'll make sure you guys don't get in trouble," I spoke, "you guys were doing your job and I was the one who brought this upon us."

"No, it was my fault.. I should've never let you out of my sight." Sam said, holding my hand and giving it a light squeeze. "Don't do that guys, It was nobody's fault, we got attacked and we had to do what he had to do." Ava said giving us all a slight smile.

We all nodded at her in agreement. Even though my life wasn't a normal one, I was happy. I had four wonderful friends and the best boyfriend a girl can ever have.

So I know this chapter sucks and its really short, but I needed to get it done and over with. I promise the next one will be better and longer.
