I exhaled slowly as I watched their lips move. They had been talking for twenty minutes out of the thirty we had been here. I bit my lip time after time to prevent words from spilling out of them. I looked at her, pale skin, hair cut to perfection in a sleek bob, small pouty red lips and —
"Sarah, Sarah! Don't you want to eat anything?" Jungmin asked me.
I looked down and noticed I had been picking at my donut since I ordered it.
"Don't worry. Please excuse me." I said before walking to the restroom.
I knew he had fallen out of love with me. It was so obvious, but I couldn't let go. I saw the way he looked at other girls when we took walks to the park. How he allowed interruptions on our dates like now.
It was our third year anniversary but he'd spent half of our date talking to another woman right in front of me. She'd even dragged a chair to our table to sit with us. The nerve.
I wouldn't be disrespected because of love, no. I walked back to the table and picked up my handbag.
"Sarah, are you okay?" The girl, Taerin asking with a forced smile.
"Yeah I'm okay, thanks for asking. I'm going back to my apartment Min." I said digging my hand in my bag and extracting my wallet.
"Sarah, what's going on?" Jungmin said standing up.
"Like I said, I'm leaving. This is for my share of the bill. You two have a good day, eh." I said dropping a 10,000 won note on the table before walking out.
"Hey now, Sarah!" Jungmin ran after me grabbing my arm once we were outside the cafe.
"Jungmin, it's alright. We've had a good three years, but I'm not going to be selfish and hold you down when it's so obvious that you don't love me anymore." I said looking him straight in the eye.
"Sarah, I — I, what do you mean? I love you." He said.
"No you don't Min. Look, I'm tired of waiting for your attention to be turned back to me. I'm your girlfriend but I feel I'm at the back of the line!"
"You should have asked why?" He said sitting me down on a nearby bench.
"What about Taerin? You just left here there." I said blinking furiously to hold the tears back in.
"Taerin isn't my girlfriend, you are. And we are talking about our relationship right now." He said holding onto my hands.
"Sarah, these past few months you really haven't listened to me. I try to talk to you but you're too caught up in something else, we stopped having long talks like we used to, I take time out of my schedule just to be with you, but all you do is point out flaws or say something off —."
"But Min I —
"Baby listen to me please, I just wanted to be with you but you always compare me to your ex Ilhoon. I don't know whether you did it unconsciously or just to spite me, but I began to lose interest." He said and I sighed.
I could remember all the times he would do something wrong and I would bring up Ilhoon's name.
"Babe I'm sorry for all that. I didn't know how much that hurt you, why didn't you tell me all this while?" I caressed his face lovingly.
"Honestly I don't know, you know me, always suppressing my emotions." He held my hand and rubbed his thumb against it.
"But all those girls......I felt so jealous." I confessed.
"I know and I'm sorry, but I want you to know that throughout these three years we have been together, I have never cheated on you or had feelings for any other woman. And I'm sorry for all those times I checked out other girls, I was such a dick." He chuckled.
"Yeah, you were." I said and we burst into laughter.
"Please don't leave me babe." He whispered against my forehead.
" I won't."
"Cmon, let me walk you home baby." He said holding my hand as we began to walk to my apartment complex.
