A Poem

How can you tell what is a poem? and what is not?

Are poems short and sweet?

Or, are they long and interesting. 

Do they rhyme, do they sound like a song that you'd hear in another world. 

Or are they just a string of words that will leave an imprint on you as you walk through your day. 

Is it about sin, love, hate, obedience, admiration? 

Pain, hurt, total and utter remorse? 

Because I no longer know or understand. 

How what I can write does not count as a poem because it wont fit into a criteria.  

I will though still refuse to write my poems as anything but what I want them to be, even if it doesn't fit a criteria
