Suddenly, in the midst of laughing, someone’s familiar voice is calling out from nowhere.
Starcy: Mami, mami!
She ran towards Czarlize. Czarlize hugs her. Vince was a little shocked.
Czarlize: oh’, hi there, sweety
Vince: St… Starcy?
Starcy: Hello, Dr. Balacina!
Vince: Well, hello too, Ms. Starcy ‘Wacky’.
Starcy and Czarlize smiled. Czarlize then speaks to Starcy.
Czarlize: Honey, please get my bag in the car.
Starcy: ok, mami.
She left.
Vince: …so you’re married to whom?
Czarlize: …to a high school friend.
Vince: is he the one you’ve mentioned before?
Czarlize: yes, I think you know who he is.
Vince was saddened, became silent. Czarlize then followed.
Czarlize: You know, he took PMA after high school. While I was in Australia, my best friend Katherine informed me that he joined the Australian Army. She gave my number to him. He calls me and after a couple of months, we saw each other in Australia. Since then, he visits my place often. Then, after several years, we got married…
Czarlize sighs.
Czarlize: …and Starcy was our daughter.
She didn’t mention Carmelita.
Vince was speechless. He seems hurt with her words echoed in air.
He then consumed the wine and checks his phone.
