CHAPTER 22 - Chaos

CHAPTER 22

 

Jackson then proceeded to the cabinet and wears the anti-radiation suit. He is about to dismantle again the nuclear reactor inside the chamber.

When he opens the door of the chamber, he heard someone’s coming. He then hid for a while.

Nuclear Scientist 3 returns.

He saw Vince lying on the floor as if dead already. Nuclear Scientist 3 gets his 38 caliber gun on his locker. He is looking for the suspect around while holding the gun, but he found none, the suspect was nowhere to be found.

Suddenly, a chair heavily slams on his head. 

Nuclear Scientist 3 withdraws the gun, the gun slides on the floor. He was hurt badly; he could stand up still a little and ready to fight back; however, he was still weak and his head was still hurt badly. Jackson wearing the anti-radiation suit immediately took advantage of the opportunity, while Nuclear Scientist 3 head still hurts. He then shouted.

Jackson: You die!

Jackson punches his face and grabs his neck with his right arm. Nuclear Scientist 3 tried to resists the arm on his neck but he was still hurt, the arm is getting tight and tighter, until he couldn’t breathe any last longer, as he keeps on trying to remove the arm.

He tried and tried.

Then, he then can’t breathe anymore oxygen.

Then, Nuclear Scientist 3… died.

When Jackson realizes then Nuclear Scientist 3 had died, he withdraws his arm and spits on him.

Jackson: you deserve that, fool!

He returns immediately to the nuclear reactor chamber and dismantles the nuclear reactor.

The nuclear reactor became unstable again, and the countdown starts to blow.

After a while Jackson shuts down and locks the door of the nuclear reactor chamber.

Jackson: no one could enter here anymore, this is about to blow…

Jackson: …Ha ha… ha ha …ha ha ha!

Suddenly, gunfire has been heard and the sound echoed around the wall.

Jackson turns around. He saw Vince was holding the gun.

Vince: …Jackson, stop.

He speaks while holding the gun, his chest was bleeding fast.

Jackson: …why …you fool!

Jackson walks and draws closer to Vince.

However, he suddenly dropped while walking; he lay down, and died slowly before reaching Vince.

Vince throws the gun and lies down. He’s running out of blood.

Vince looks on the wall, and breathes as if his last. He began to recall his childhood days.

Vince: …dreams.

However, he didn’t think anymore of his career and achievements.

He thinks of someone, the last thing that comes on his mind.

He began to recall his special days with that someone in Wisly University.

He grabs something on his pocket, a calling card, while looking on it, he murmurs.

Vince: I’m sorry… I guess I can’t read your novel anymore.

Vince closes his eyes and lay down almost dead.

After a while, out of nowhere, a beam of light appears on the dreams of Vince.

Vince: …where am I?

Messenger: you’re in a safe place.

Then suddenly, he recalled what happened in the Nuclear Reactor Chamber.

Vince: …I need to go back to the chamber.

Messenger: The Miyami Nuclear Power Plant will not be destroyed and the life of many people in Mandaya City shall be spared.

Vince doubts to his answer; he can’t realize if this is a dream or not. He replied.

Vince: But how can it be? Does the nuclear reactor dismantle already?

Vince asks, as if the messenger knows how to control the nuclear operation.

A moment of silence echoed, and then suddenly the messenger speaks.

Messenger: …believe, and have faith.

Vince didn’t say any word. The messenger then followed.

Messenger: Nine people shall be disappearing tomorrow out of nowhere; these people are living from Mandaya, they will disappear to fulfill the prophecy…

Vince was listening intently, he replied.

Vince: …what prophecy?

The messenger continues.

Messenger: …a mission to save the community from electrical shortage of Miyami Nuclear Power Plant in the future, which will happen nine years from now.

Vince doesn’t get what the messenger means; he is still confused with the present situation.

Again, the messenger continued.

Messenger: …as for you, because you have been a good man while living on earth, you will enjoy the fruits of your work here… in paradise.

Vince became silent, he stares blank to the messenger.

Vince: ………paradise.

Then after a while, the messenger disappears on his dream.

Vince while lying down inhales his last, his blood on chest drops its last. He speaks his last word.

Vince: …Czarlize.

Then, he died.
