Chapter 2: The Meeting

When it was dark I got ready for the meeting. We were all supposed to meet in the middle of the woods which was a good three miles from my house. I stepped out of my house and shut the door. I hesitated before I finally shifted into my animal. An ocelot. I never really did like to shift but I kind of had no choice.

  I started off walking to the forest enjoying the peace of the night. I could hear the wind rustling leaves, the water lapping at the shore of the lake, the cars passing in the distance, and the crickets chirping softly. That's one thing I liked about this whole thing. I could hear things I normally couldn't as a regular human. In my human form or ocelot form.

  When I realized that I was late I started to run. The wind blew against me, rustling my fur and whiskers as I ran faster and faster. My paws thudded against the ground. One of the good things about being an ocelot was that I was just a little bigger then a domestic cat, making me faster, more stealthy, and I didn't weigh much so I didn't make too much noise.

  When I finally got to the meeting place I saw everyone was already there and were obviously waiting for me.

  "It's about time!" Dana yelled. She was in her normal shape of a fox.

  "Yeah it took you long enough!" Ashton said to me. He was in his shape of a wolf.

  The twins were also there. The twins were two orphaned kids  that Ashton found wandering around alone. He couldn't believe that they were Animagi like us. Their names were Brendan and Brooke. Brendan took the shape of a cheetah and Brooke, a leopard.

  "You're late," Carlo, our leader, growled at me. He took the shape of a grizzly bear.

  "I know. I can't help that I like to take my time," I mumbled sitting next to Ashton.

  "Keep your excuses to yourself rookie," Carlo growled at me. I  was called rookie because I was the most recent one to become an Animagus. It ticked me off a little bit.

  "Okay guys so I just wanted to address where I was earlier," Ashton said looking specifically at me. "I ran into some Thwigs and they tried to take me out. But of course no one can take me down!"

  "What are Thwigs?" Brooke asked. Neither of the twins where allowed to come to any of the meetings before today so they didn't know anything.

  "Thwigs are the demons we fight against to keep the human race itself alive." Carlo said to the twins. I had never seen Thwigs before but from what Dana and Ashton tell me, they are your worst nightmares and they can inflict major damage.

  Brooke was staring at Carlo wide eyed. Brendan just rolled his eyes. "Big deal," he murmured.

  "It is a big deal actually. One slip up and you're dead my furry friend. You're either dead or scarred for life. So you better start acting like it's a big deal, alright?" Dana snapped at Brendan. Brendan practically shrank in size. When Dana wanted to she could make anyone understand something.

  "Thank you Dana. I appreciate your help, but you should have just let him find out himself, just how big of a deal they are," Carlo snarled at Dana. They constantly fought.

  "I didn't help you, and if I didn't say something he would have died. Do you wanna be short on fighters again, Carlo? Cause I think you remember just how much fun that was, don't you?" Dana said standing up and coming face to face with Carlo. Both of their teeth were bared and they were snarling and growling.

  I jumped between them quickly. Compared to Carlo I was practically a runt. He must have been doubled maybe even tripled in my size when he was on all fours. I was about the same size in height as Dana though. Maybe a little taller. She was longer than I was because of her tail and slim body.
