"Wren wait up!" Dana yelled after me. It had been a week since the last fight and Dana and I had gone for a run in the forest.
"Keep up! Are you sure you're a fox and not a turtle?" I yelled back to her.
"Are you sure you aren't superhuman?" Dana yelled as she tried to catch up to me.
"I'm not a human according to Carlo!" I yelled as I raced into the branches of a tree.
"That's not fair! I can't climb!" Dana whined as she came to a stop at the roots of the tree.
"Well then let's have a friendly competition! You race me. I'll run through the trees, you on the ground. The trees slow me down a bit anyways so you might have a chance," I teased. Dana squinted her eyes and growled.
"Fine," she said. "Say when to-,"
"GO," I howled and started to race through the close growing trees. Dana was right under me. I sped up a little and dodged a large branch.
Dana's large and furry tail got caught on a bush that she tried to run straight through. I snorted in laughter.
"Haha! Sucker!" I yelled.
She's here.
I skidded to a stop on the branch I was on and hopped out of the tree quickly, running back to Dana.
"Thwigs!" I yelled. I clawed Dana's tail out of the brush and she looked around in confusion.
"Where? How do you know?" Dana asked.
"I heard them! Let's go!" I yelled. That's when I realized what I said and Dana noticed too.
"What do you mean you-?" Dana started but was cut off when a dark figure came out of the trees.
We can't let her get away.
Dana was up and running immediately and I chased after her closely.
When we got to the house and were shifted back Dana rounded on me.
"What do you mean you heard them? They don't make noise, Wren!" Dana growled.
"Why does it matter, I saved your life, and your tail for that matter," I grumbled and walked inside.
"Wren! Tell me the truth!" Dana yelled. I rounded on her and we were face to face.
"I. Can. Hear. Thwigs. Talk," I whispered angrily.
Dana's eyes got wide and her mouth dropped open.
"You can what?" Carlo asked behind me. I turned and saw Carlo, Brooke, Brendan, and Ashton staring at me with the same look as Dana's.
I didn't say anything, I just stared daggers at Carlo.
"You heard me," I whispered and pushed past them to get upstairs to my room.
I slammed the door behind me and walked onto my balcony.
"Stupid. Stupid," I said as I hit my head with my palm. I couldn't believe I had just told all of them that. I felt like I could drop dead with embarrassment right there.
"Tell me everything," Carlo said walking into my room and coming onto my balcony. I flipped him the finger and refused to talk to him.
"That's how you knew where we were during the fire," Carlo stated, not as a question.
"Actually I just followed my gut on that one after the Thwigs said you were in trouble," I said. It sounded ridiculous talking about how the Thwigs had talked to me.
