I spun around to see Eva and Madison glaring at me. A small crowd was starting to form around us. I stood there, speechless, waiting for one of them to punch me or make another comment. Evan stood behind them, refusing to meet my eye. These people are not who I class as my friends anymore. And in all honesty, I'm not sure I ever did.
"Alfie, Kenna, let's go. There's nothing to see here." I said, spinning on my heel. I'm trying to hide the hurt expression on my face before anyone notices. But tears spring to my eyes, Alfie grasped my hand and I looked confused towards him. His eyes dropped to the floor. Kenna linked arms with me and we walked off to the field. My safe place.
"Aria, what was that all about?" Alfie asked, sounding genuinely concerned. I shrugged my shoulders without meeting his eye.
"I have no idea. They've been really distant over the past few days and won't tell me why..." Before I could finish, Alfie lent in and kissed me,
"Alfie...what..."
"Shh" I had no idea he felt this way but I'm not about to cheat on Evan, no matter how much I hate him at the moment. Consequently, I pulled away and stepped backwards.
"I'm s-sorry....you know I'm with Evan. Even if frankly I don't want to be. I'm not a cheat. I never meant to lead you on if that's what you thought. I'm so sorry." I lent in and kissed his cheek, Kenna rolled her eyes. Oh and guess what. They're twins! I honestly had no idea.
"Really Aria?!" Alfie said, rolling his eyes at me.
"I really like you Alfie but..." I was about to say only as friends but a familiar voice raged behind me.
"WHAT?????"
Oh no. Evan stood in front of me, fury filled in his eyes. He raised his fist and for a moment I thought he was going to punch me. He didn't. I stormed off before anything else could happen and ran into the locker room...and what do you know. I walked in on Eva and Nate having a session.
"I'm sorry. I'll go..." I say, trying to rush out without a conversation.
"Wait Aria. We need to talk, please." Eva said, I wanted to laugh at her so bad. "You were the ones who shut me out, not the other way round. And then the things you said earlier! It's just not on Eva! What did I ever do to you?"
"I know and we're sorry but please listen," I took a seat and allowed her to talk. Though, I'm not sure why. "We wanted to surprise you for your birthday. But you took it the wrong way and as we couldn't tell you we had to roll with it...we are so sorry."
I didn't know what to say or whether to believe her. I wasn't ready to loose my best friends though, so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I went up to her and gave her a hug. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Madison, Kenzie and Kitty hiding in the shower room. I didn't ask. I walked back out to try and find Kenna before an argument started. As if on cue her...and Rhys appeared.
"You cheat!"
"I'm sorry, I had too..."
