Returning to the village after scouting and going for a run, I came back to find that Katara and Aang had accidentally set off a flare shot from the old abandoned Fire Ship just past the outskirts of the penguin packs. The two now sat in front of Sokka as he yelled at them for being stupid enough to go there. "What did you two do?" I said, the two of them wouldn't meet my gaze and muttered soft apologize.
After twenty minutes of arguing Aang was banished and Katara tried to leave with him but I gripped her wrist while Sokka guilt tripped her into staying. After Aang was gone, Sokka had everyone hide, then he ran into his tent and came out in warrior paint and without his thick jacket. I opened my mouth to say something but I was cut off by the arrival of the Fire Navy. Their ship shoved its way right into the village,
The women scattered and hid with their children, though one child sat terrified, calling for help, running I jumped in and got him out of the way, his mother sat huddled in her tent with two other children leaving him in her care I went back out to grab Sokka who stood on the village walls about to be hit. Katara had called to him, but I got there in time to pull him from being crushed. "Foolish little pup."
I chided and pushed him to stand with Katara and out of my way. When the doors to the boat opened, a boy about 17-18 years old with a nasty burn to his right eye walked off with several men, I automatically knew whom this guy was, and frowned. It was the dishonored Prince Zuko, of the Fire Nation. Running past me, Sokka tried to attack the Prince only to be beaten with two kicks, one to disarm and the other to push him out of the way.
Taking in the Prince's skills when Sokka attacked I knew he would be a well-versed opponent. So I had to do this carefully or he would end us all. Walking along us, he looked us all over, before stopping in front of me, my arms outstretched to protect Katara and her Grandmother. He leaned into me and glared but I was unfazed by it and it seemed to make him angrier. "Where is he?" He asked but no one answered.
Snapping his arm out he tried to grab Katara's grandmother but I grabbed his wrist and squeezed. "You may ask, you may demand, but you will not touch any of these people." I said squeezing harder until he yanked free, backing up, he glared at me and then swung his fist throwing a blaze of fire over our heads, coming too close to everyone, I had to use my bending to protect them, with his swipe of Fire I moved to block with water.
Villagers gasped and backed up to give us space. "A waterbender, huh?" Zuko chuckled, "Very well, if I have to go through you to get to the Avatar then fine, so be it!" he roared and jumped to attack, but I had six years more training on him and my skills were refined by the trainings of my master and the few fights I had been in on my way to the Southern Water Tribe two years ago. He seemed to realize my advanced sets and frowned,
Like somehow he was supposed to learn his own but didn't, and I could see the barely mastered basics in his movements and smirked, about to attack again we were interrupted by Sokka. We both ducked under him and he fell into the snow, popping back up, he threw his boomerang and both myself and Zuko ducked again, one of the little children then shouted, "Show no fear!" while tossing Sokka his spear, and the boy took off again, running past me,
I just stood there with my hand on my face and shaking my head in embarrassment, as Zuko simply snapped Sokka's spear with his forearms and then took it from Sokka and jabbed him several times in the forehead. Making Sokka fall and rub his head, while Zuko snapped the rest of the spear in half before tossing it to the side. Everything was quiet and serious, until Zuko caught the boomerang with his head,
Exclaiming in surprise and pain as the tool tilted his helmet and probably gave him a headache. Glaring down at Sokka he made a face that a child would when about to throw a tantrum. Clenching his fists fire sprouted out the bottoms of his closed fist, seeing the real danger I jumped over Sokka and Zuko and I continued out battle. Pausing for a breath the Prince looked at me like I reminded him of someone and I realized,
