"I forgive you." I said after she had explained it all, evident relief in my tone.
"Oh my god..." She began, "thank you!"
I smiled at my mother, who was clearly trying to avoid eye contact with Gerard, whom was staring her down.
"So... did you mean what you just said to Frank?" Gerard said, leaning closer to my mother, squinting his eyes menacingly.
My mother turned to properly face him, "I swear I meant every word-"
"Every word?" Gerard cut in, his unbroken gaze sharp enough to kill someone.
"Gerard. Please. I believe her." I said, laying my hand on his upper knee, trying to put him at ease.
Gerard simply grunted and sat back in his seat.
"Why'd you find me?" I asked, my tone slightly more curious than I expected.
"I did a lot of thinking, a lot... I realised what I had done, and I wanted to fix it..."
I felt a smile grow across my face.
Before I could open my mouth, my mother began speaking again.
"I did a lot of research, and I've arranged an appointment."
An appointment? What?
I looked at Gerard for a moment, both of our eyes full of curiosity, confusion and anxiety.
"What sort of appointment?"
"Your first appointment with a gender therapist."
