"Eric, if I may say, far better than any dream girl, is one of flesh and blood, one warm and caring... and right before your eyes."
-Grismby, The Little Mermaid.
If anyone were to ask Ellie whether she preferred anything that had to do with anything about chocolate, or cherries, she really wasn't sure what she would choose.
It was a very tough decision, after all, since she had been completely in love with both things for as long as she could remember.
Of course, if they ever asked Paige the same question, she'd choose chocolate in a heartbeat.
Especially because Paige couldn't tolerate fruits.
At all.
And Ellie thought that was completely ridiculous.
Paige claimed that the crunchy feeling she got when she bit an apple made her sick.
Then what was it supposed to be like!? All mushy and soggy!?
Now that would be disgusting.
But anyway, that was why when Ed brought a black forest chocolate cake to school on Wednesday, Ellie had to literally slap Evan in the face before he got to it first.
And then she had to fight off Ben, as well.
She wasn't in a very good mood today; she had woken up on the wrong side of the bed.
Not just because, there was a reason.
It being the last week of January and all, the snow had fallen pretty heavily last night.
And thanks to that snow, Ellie had gotten a bucket full of it dumped on her face by her brother this morning.
Just because she had stolen a roll of toilet paper he usually stored in his bathroom for when he ran out.
Just because of that.
So the fact that somebody was trying to mess with the combination of chocolate and cherries before she got a taste really pissed her off.
"Whoa, Ellie, relax. No one's gonna steal it from you." Paige said as she eyed her friend with a raised brow.
"Yes, they are! Now get away." Ellie answered before she took another mouthful of the slice of cake.
"Hey!" Ed said as he snatched the fork from her hand, "this cake is mine!"
Ellie crossed her arms and slumped back in her seat, the noise of a buzzing cafeteria filling her ears.
She stuck out her bottom lip in a pouting manner.
"What's wrong, Ells?" Evan asked as he slowly rubbed the side of his cheek where Ellie had hit him, "you and your boyfriend Oz get into a fight again?"
Ellie flared her nostrils and narrowed her eyes at him, and then everybody began to laugh.
"I hate all of you." she said right before she got up and walked away from the table.
She heard the laughter subdue, and Paige call out her name.
She didn't care, she was done eating anyway.
