“I don’t want to get married! I want to stay single and let my hair flow in the wind as I ride through the glen, firing arrows into the sunset.”
-King Fergus, Brave.
Crash!
Danny sat up on his bed, really very pissed off at the fact that he was about to fall back asleep, and then some stupid ass crash wakes him up.
Saturday was the only day of the week he could sleep in, and people – or sounds- kept interrupting him.
He sighed, got up from his bed, and peered out the window.
Someone was clearly moving into the house next to theirs. There was a big moving truck parked in front of their house, and a bunch of cardboard boxes were piled up on top of each other in the neighboring lawn.
He looked for the source of the crash, but found nothing.
Then as he looked down, he saw Ellie observing the new neighbors. She wasn’t being discreet at all…
“What’re you doing?” he asked her once he had put on a fresh shirt and joined her outside in the yard.
“Watching the neighbors move in.” she said nonchalantly.
“They’re moving in?” he asked her, which earned him an eye roll from her part.
“No, stupid. That big ass moving truck is just unloading crap for fun.” she said. He gave her a nasty look, and turned his gaze towards the movers.
“You’re such a dummy, Danny.”
“Thanks.”
Before he even realized it, he was staring at a big mass of red, startling to the eye. He stood on his tiptoes to get a better look, and that’s when he realized it was a person.
All Danny could make out was her curly, frizzy red hair, since she had her back facing them. And when she turned around, he noticed how pretty she was.
“Holy crap, she’s a real-life Merida.” he heard Ellie say. Danny turned to look at her, and saw she had her eyes focused on the redhead as well.
“Who?” Danny asked.
“Merida.”
“Who’s that?”
“The Princess from Brave.”
“What’s Brave?” He asked. By this time, he already knew perfectly well whom she was talking about, he just liked to bug her.
“The movie we watched the other day with mom.”
“What are you talking about?”
“The movie where the chick turns her mom into a bear!”
He purposely waited for a while before loudly shouting out “Ohhhh!” causing a few of the movers to turn and glance at them, and earning a punch to the gut from Ellie.
“Honestly, if I turned mom into a bear…” Ellie began, and stopped as if thinking about what she was going to say.
“Well...so long, mom! Good luck in the wild!” Danny finished the sentence for her. They both turned to look at each other and began to laugh.
