Chapter 18

Johnny's POV
"What the hell happened to her?!" I yell at Lauren.
"She's gonna hate me for this" she muttered.
She grabbed my hand and pulled me into an empty hall.
Then she started telling me everything that happened.
"This is my fault, I should have never gotten involved with Kalani" I said putting my head in my hands.
"Hey, you didn't know" Lauren said attempting to comfort me.
I nodded, still upset.
Then the bell rings.
"Give her some time, tell the girls not to visit her until she's ready" I said and she nodded.
Then I walked off and finished the rest of my classes.
When the bell rang, I started walking to my car.
Astonishingly enough, I saw Kalani and her friends at her car.
Anger boiled in my veins, as I walked up to her.
I grabbed her arm and pulled her aside.
"Oh hey baby" she said and I cringed.
"I'm not your baby, leave Mackenzie alone, or else" I said.
"Or else what?" She said smirking.
I got close to her ear and said "I know what you did last summer."
Her face turned pale and she stood there speechless.
I walked away and drove home, thinking about Mackenzie the whole time.
When I got home I texted Mackenzie.
J- are you okay?
J- I wanted to give you space so I didn't come.
K- I'm fine.
J- no you're not, be ready I'll pick you up in an hour.
Then I played on my phone for a little bit and left to the store.
I looked around until I found the perfect thing. I bought it and left the store.
I went back to my house and saw Lauren and the girls.
"We've been waiting!" Ruby says.
"Sorry?" I said confused.
"We want to see Kenzie" Lauren said.
"Sorry ladies, but she's gonna be with me tonight" I said.
"Johnny!" They all yelled at me but I just went upstairs.
I did my homework, and when I finished, it was time to go pick up Mackenzie.
Mackenzie's POV
I hear my phone ding.
J- I'm here
I grab my bag and walk outside.
I hop into the passenger's seat to see those emerald green eyes staring at me. He hands me a bag. I open it to see a bag of jolly ranchers, I grin.
*flashback*
Today I got sick from Ruby. I was throwing up constantly and coughing like I was dying. Then I get a text.
J- wanna hangout?
K- I can't
J- why?
K- I'm sick
*left on open*
20 minutes later someone knocks on my door.
"Come in" I say sickly and in walks Johnny.
"What are you doing here?" I say.
"You said you were sick" he states.
He snuggles into my covers with me and kisses my forehead.
"You're gonna get sick" I chuckle.
"I don't care" he says and throws me a bag.
I open it to see jolly ranchers, my favorite candy.
"I love you" I say sickly.
"I love you too" he says.
Then he tells me dumbs stories about him to make me feel better.
*end of flashback*
"Thank you" I smile slightly.
The ride was silent for a little bit until he spoke up.
"I missed you today" he muttered.
I looked at him, tears in my eyes, and I looked down.
"I missed you too" I said.
He pulled into the parking lot of McDonald's and I smiled.
He puts the car in park and grabs my hand.
"I'm sorry Mackenzie, this is all my fault" he says and looks down.
"I should've been better to you and if I never cheated on you, this wouldn't have happened" he said.
"It's not your fault that what they say is true" I mutter.
He looks up.
"How could any of what they said be true? Mackenzie you're the most beautiful girl in the world" he said.
"I don't know anyone nicer or smarter than you" he said.
I smiled and he smiled back.
It was silent for a few minutes.
I looked at his eyes, the moonlight hitting them perfectly.
Then I kissed him.
After a while we pulled away and he smiled at me.
"I love you Johnny" I said.
"I love you too" he said.
