Chapter 26

Johnny's POV
6 hours.
It's been 6 hours since I last saw Mackenzie.
6 hours she has been in surgery
and the waiting is fucking killing me.
I stand up from my seat.
"I'm going to go get food, Maddie do you wanna come?" I ask.
She nods and we leave our group.
*time skip*
Maddie and I decide to get donuts and water bottles. As it is our turn to pay, I pull out the money before Maddie can, which she responds to with a smile and a quiet "thank you."
we go and sit down and that's when I can't take it anymore.
"I want to marry Mackenzie."
Maddie slightly chokes on her water.
"You what?!" Maddie says.
"If Mackenzie comes out of this surgery alive, I don't want to waste anymore time. I'm gonna ask her to marry me" I say.
it's quiet for a couple seconds as she takes in what I just said.
"I think it's perfect" Maddie says.
I smile widely.
we continue talking about Mackenzie until we are done with our food and we go back to join the others.
we arrive in the waiting room, but everyone is gone.
Maddie and I frantically run to Mackenzie's room to see Mackenzie.
wide awake, talking.
I run in as fast as I can and give her the biggest hug.
Everyone else leaves to give us space.
"I missed you so much" I say crying into Mackenzie's arms.
"I missed you too" she says quietly.
Then I pull out of the hug and our lips meet.
Our kiss lasts for about 10 seconds, then I pull away for air and hug her again.
"I love you Mackenzie" I say still crying.
she giggles a little before saying
"Johnny I love you too, now stop crying!"
"ok ok" I say as our hug ends and I sit down next to her, grabbing her hand.
*time skip*
Mackenzie's POV
I've been in this hospital for about 2 months. By this time, I've missed prom, and graduation, which was a few days ago. None of it matters though, because Johnny is taking me out tonight to make it up to me. I grab my clothes and throw them in a backpack as I get ready to leave the hospital for good. Johnny then comes in with a wheelchair and one of my bags on his arm.
"Hey are you ready?" He asks.
"Yes" I say as I turn around to face him.
he helps me get into the wheelchair and I kiss him on the cheek.
He smiles widely and starts wheeling me to his car.
He helps me into the car and we drive off.
He grabs my hand as he drives, and I smile.
Then we arrive at my house.
My mom, who is in jail for the rest of  her life, somehow forgot to change the will before she started hating me, so I own it now.
A couple weeks ago Johnny and my dad cleaned it up, and now I live in it, by myself.
Before we get out I pull Johnny's hand.
"What?" He looks back at me.
"I want you to live here. With me" I smile widely.
He smiles the biggest smile I've never seen and kisses me.
"I love you, Mackenzie" he says.
"I love you too" I grin.
