The next morning as Veronica opened her eyes she received a text message from Archie. "Good morning beautiful" it read. Veronica smiled. Archie would never leave her. Or would he? She got out of bed and felt slightly less motivated to get ready than usual. So, she but on a pair of sweatpants and a tank top. Besides, comfort was key right? When Veronica sat down at breakfast her mother was shocked. "Mija! What are you wearing?" she asked. Veronica shrugged. "It's a change of heart" she replied, not feeling the words she spoke were true. Really, Veronica didn't feel like impressing anyone today. She was simply dreading going to rehearsal. When she arrived at school she was given many looks. She could hear the conversing too. "Is that really Veronica Lodge?" "I banged her too hard last night she didn't want to show her face today" "I heard she broke up with Archie". What she wanted to do was scream at everyone and tell them that they could go to hell. But today was different. So she simply headed to class. At lunch Archie sat next to Betty, talking about how excited they were about the musical. Jughead did not look happy with that. He gave Veronica a look as if to say "I hate everything". And Veronica nodded her head and smiled. "So, I'll see you all at rehearsal this afternoon" she said, holding back any type of rage she had at the girl who was supposed to be her best friend. As Veronica was about to get up Archie grabbed her hand. She smiled. "Ronnie, I need to talk to you" he said. "Okay" she said, expecting to be pulled into a janitors closet to make out any moment. But Archie's face was different. Serious. Who knew Archie could be serious? He looked upset, maybe even regretful. "Ronnie, me and Betty talked last night" he said. Veronica suddenly payed attention. Supposedly, they were close enough to their lunch table that Jughead was able to hear. He stood up. "Wow" he said. "Isn't this so predictable? I mean didn't we all see this coming?" Jughead threw his arms into the air. "Jug, let me explain" Betty said, reaching for his hand. "Of course. You and Archie end up together. I mean why would the perfect girl next door ever fall for a south side serpent?" Jughead yelled. "Hey, don't talk to her like that!" Archie yelled, standing in front of Betty. Veronica pulled Jughead away from Betty before he could say anything worse. "Come on, let's go" she whispered in his ear. Jughead, full of tears in his eyes, gave one last glance at his ex-girlfriend and ex-best friend and turned away, following Veronica.
