As Veronica opened her eyes, she did not feel the comfort of her satin sheets and silk nightwear. Instead, she felt a warm body laying against hers. "Good morning Archiekins" she soothed, not yet turning around. She felt the person laying behind her quickly sit up behind her. "Veronica?" Said a familiar voice. Veronica turned around and there he was. Jughead Jones, in nothing but boxers. "Oh. My. God." Veronica screamed. "We didn't, right?" Veronica yelled. "Uh. Um" Jughead stuttered, looking around nervously. "Shit!" said Veronica, getting up from Jug's pull out couch bed. "We can't tell Betty or Archie!" Screamed Veronica. "I know that!" Yelled Jughead. "This is really bad" said Jughead, pacing around his kitchen. "I have to go meet Archie!" Said Veronica, gathering her things and redressing herself. "Wait! Veronica!" Jughead said, pulling her arm before she could leave his trailer. Veronica turned around and faced Jughead. "This needs to end now. We can't keep hurting the people we care about just because we have these mixed feelings that probably aren't even real!" Jughead took a step back. "Not real? Veronica what you and Archie have is not real! This, us, is real Ronnie!" Jughead said, fighting for his point. "I have to get to school" said Veronica, slamming the trailer door behind her. As Veronica sat on the metro to school, she realized that everything Jughead said was right.
In class, Veronica couldn't concentrate on Mr. Louis. Her mind was caught in a knot. With Jughead sitting to her right, and Betty to her left, she was sure to snap any second. Of course, when Mr. Louis began to take notes on the board Jughead leaned over and whispered into her ear. "Can I borrow a pen, Ronnie?" He asked softly. Veronica, noticing the looks from Betty and Cheryl, quickly unzipped her pencil case and handed Jughead a black gel pen. "You think you're funny, but you won't get to me Jones" she said, turning away from him. "What was that?" Betty whispered to V. "Nothing. Jughead needed a pencil" Veronica said. She was telling the truth, she had just left out another statement that Elizabeth Cooper needed to know. "Ms. Lodge! Is there something you need to tell the class?" Mr. Louis asked, strictly. "No, sorry" Veronica answered, suddenly paying attention. Class droned on, boring the raven haired girl out of her mind until she felt a hand moving to her knee and up her leg. Jughead. Veronica slapped Jughead's hand. "Ow!" said Jughead, louder than he should have. "Thats it! Ms. Lodge, Mr. Jones. Detention!" Mr. Louis yelled. Veronica slouched down in her seat.
That afternoon at lunch, Kevin, Archie, Veronica, Toni, Reggie, Betty and Cheryl were all seated at a table together. Jughead walked over with Sweetpea and Fangs and sat down. Fangs next to Kevin, Jughead next to Toni, and Sweetpea next to Betty. "Veronica! Did you forget to style your hair this morning?" Cheryl asked. "Um.. uh yeah" she answered. Shit. Veronica had changed clothes before school from her emergency outfit in her locker but had no time to re-curl her shiny black hair. "What did you and Archie do last night?" Reggie said, laughing. "Nothing" added Jughead. "How would you know?" Archie wondered. "He wouldn't!" Exclaimed Veronica. "What happened in that closet Betty?" Veronica asked. "What the hell Veronica!" Betty yelled. "We're all wondering" Veronica answered. Veronica knew it was none of her business, but she needed to get the heat off of herself. "Betty may or may not have-" Sweetpea began to say. "Cut it bro" Fangs said, hitting him. Jughead picked up his tray and left the lunchroom.
